Hello Everyone,

I have been browsing the forums for the last couple weeks and have a few questions. In terms of safety glasses, I've read great things about the ML-7.
Does anyone know if you can get these with prescription lenses? If not, Is there a good source to get Rx laser safety glasses? I'm not looking for goggles to go over glasses but, actual Rx laser safety glasses. Not worried about the cost, my HRA covers them.

Funny, I have these goggles in exact that frame style, I don't use them much though, they're indeed pretty dark and I prefer large framestyles, it closes off more of the environment. But the ML7 is pretty nice for low power RGV setups, although it's not rated for 405nm. I wish I had these though.

Aren't some goggles big enough to wear over ordinary glasses?

Personally i just wear contacts under any kind of glasses (laser goggles, diving mask, sunglasses, etc),. seems much more convenient.

i like the "Large Fit-over" style
can wear with eye-glasses or not .
wraps around the eyes for full coverage/protection, as well .

Hey everyone

Thanks for the replies, I'm looking for actual rx lenses in the glasses. This way my Health Reimbursement Account covers them and I don't have to pay a dime.

Has anyone had experience with this company, What lenses who you recommend for a beginner hobbyist with an interest in building and playing with 405 and 532 lasers?

MMeyer --- look on eBay --- there's a guy in Hong Kong selling the red poly-carbonate goggles for $7 including shipping to USA and they ARE legit .
I have 2 pair .

I'm all for buying American but i'm not for being fleeced .

I wouldn't call them legit, they sell them as laser safety goggles but they're just red goggles that luckily block some green light. No certification at all and usually some BS specs. The blue colored goggles for example are a scam, so I don't trust that cheap stuff.

MMeyer, lexel is a company that quite well known for their lasers, I have a lexel 85 argon laser, very nice stuff. Their goggles are ANSI certified, so that's good.
Laservision also has a frame that can be fitted with Rx inserts, but that's probably more expensive than you need.

I just contacted lexel for a quote on the RX Style 40 Glasses. I'm think the 260 lenses would be the best all around.

Here are the specs:
OD 7+ @ 190-540 nm
OD 2+ @ 630-650 nm
OD 3+ @ 650-690 nm
OD 6+ @ 690-1330 nm
OD 8+ @ 1064 nm

Do these look okay for a beginning hobbyist interested in 405,532 and 650

Those will probably be a little dark, but they're really kickass!!!
You can use those for every 405nm, 445nm, 532nm laser you have. You'll be safe from any cheap greenie emittings loads of IR, you can even use there for IR lasers or huge YAG lasers and there's good protection for red lasers too, OD 3 is good up to 1W to keep the exposure to class II (the standard for alignment).

I'm curious, can you tell how high the quote was? I'd guess $250.
But to answer your question: those are probably be overkill for a beginning hobbyist, but at least you'll be safe around more than 99.9% of all lasers we have. I have safety goggles that have insane new prices, but it does feel nice not to worry that if one safety measure fails you're still safe behind very good goggles. But you'll have that with pretty much every suitable legit certified goggles.

I think this post is no longer active ? But I can't seems to find any other posts that are more recently active that is related to this topic, and I don't want to open another new posts just for this; I am sure there are enough discussion on safety goggles... recently I gave my goggle to one of my friends, and that one really isn't comfortable, so I would like to buy a new pair of goggle, but I have big head plus I wear prescription glasses... the NR-ARG-EN207 looks pretty good.

ARG - Blu Ray, Argon, Blue, KTP [NR-ARG-EN207] - $80.50

But I am not sure which style is comfortable? anyone have any idea? (looks like all styles costs the same?) I am thinking about Style 900, Style 39, Style 38 (Style 60 seems too much)

Anyone have any feedback on these styles? Or is there better choices around ?

I am not sure why these glasses can filter out lasers.... because they have the materials to absorb such wavelength ?

Why didn't you just open a new thread? This thread is 2-years old (despite the spammer who resurrected it). People don't need to read every post above your own to answer your question.

Anyway, I think only style 60 works with glasses properly.
