I am probably gonna get the OEM laser goggles. But will the 2+ Od on the goggles protect my eyes from a 22x DVD laser in a aixiz housing? How effective will a 2 OD be at shielding my eyes completely?

Thanks

The OD2 goggles are good up to 500mW. With them you will be able to see the laser spot quite clearly. The transmission on a direct shot to the eyes for the maximum power will be 5mW.

Thanks- I am laser dumb though. Could you maybe explain it a little simpler? So those goggles won't block a dvd laser from blinding me?

od 1 means it will block 10% of the light, 2 od will be 1%.1% of 500mw is 5mw which means its safe.So anywhere up to 500mw you are safe.

And a DVD diode is only 200 mw, so only 2mw will be entering my eye if the laser hits the goggle. How long would it take for 2 mw to perminently hurt my eye?

Ok, one more question... How come the faq says that OD 3+ is only good up to 125 mw? I am going to be using a 200 mw laser, so that makes it seem as if OD 2+ is extremely low for a 200mw laser. Would OD 4+ be what I need? How come these guys are saying that OD 2 is good enough when it's not even good enough for a 125 mw laser?

Thanks

OD 2 is good enough. Only 1% of the light will enter your eye with OD2 goggles, so the max they are safe for is 500mW ( 1% of 500mW is 5mW )
