Ok like seriously? Not trolling? Even if its pointed straight up?

If so I would use it more sparingly and probably look away from the beam while doing it.

Is this a small possibility that it will hurt your eyes over a long period of time, or will it really cause damage pretty quickly?

Thx

Seriously? No. It won't hurt your eyes if it's pointing into the sky.

You really believe the obvious troll?

Starting to think you're a troll or another sock account... sorry if that assumption is wrong.

Nah im not a troll. Just have no experience with lasers. For a laser that can burn through cardboard it doesnt seem to far fetched to me (a noob) that it could also burn eyes from looking at beam. Thanks for the help.

What will hurt my eyes? pointing at a wall near me, say 5ft away. and looking at the dot. would that cause eye damage?

They look pretty good. Sanwu looks like a brand name and they have a lot of models. Any suggests for what model I should get?
Thnx

First, you should not reply to the troll as you commited MANY double posts.

I know you are new, but usually if I see someone with a obvious troll post; Ignore, and report!

Next; Someone already suggested to you a 532nm GREEN pointer, if you want a diode laser you could chose 520nm as these are close to the most visible wavelength in the spectrum to the human eye. Therefore I would recommend a 520 or 532nm pointer.

In all honesty, a simple 532nm pointer such as this one from LaserBTB would be my first recommendation to you (because of the safety aspect and you being a beginner, plus the visibility of 532)

http://laserbtb.com/productshow.asp?id=71
or
HL 532nm 50-300

Choose atleast a 100mW 532 and you are all set for tons of visibility in the woods in my opinion, and you have much less power density and all of the added safety features of a LaserBTB.

If you are on a strict budget, this Sanwu 80mW will do as well. Nothing fancy but an upgraded 301 style body with a Sanwu module.

If you need anymore help and are confused about trolls or what-not and you yourself are not a troll, shoot me a message and I can get you all set straight. That said, good luck.

Thanks so much for the great help. I will def look at the links provided. I appreciate it!

I looked at the link and it says no IR filter, kind of looks like an ominous warring. wondering if that is bad or not?

Thanks again!

532nm would be much better that the blue laser you purchased but if you're carrying it as an emergency signal while out on a dirt bike I'd like to recommend a 520nm diode laser. 532's are great but they're fragile and can be finicky about temperature. A 520nm direct diode laser will withstand much greater physical abuse (shock, high/low temperatures, etc.) than a 532nm DPSS laser.

My $0.02

Yes I forgot to mention it will need to be pretty durable to take the abuse of being carried around on my rides. So reliability is very important. Good catch thanks! I will look for a 520nm direct diode laser and see what I can get for relatively cheap. Any durable brand names you would recommend? Someone said Sanwu earlier, I will start there. Thanks again!
