Hi!
I have wanted to make a light show for a long time.
Right now on my hands, I have a 20mw purple laser module from DX and 2 diffraction gratings from DragonLasers.

Today I saw this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4j1ZmQbjoU
(Here is the setup in case you are curious : https://plus.google.com/photos/116592986723950087833/albums/5701668905206535441?banner=pwa)

I want to make the same thing. She uses a piece of frosted glass, the kind you see used for shower glass panes, but I also plan to use my 2 diffraction gratings with the same laser setup.

For now I only want 2 colors : Purple and red.
20mw for the purple laser is obviously not bright enough once diffracted with the 2 DragonLaser gratings. The dots look too dim for my own taste, so I assume it will also be much too dim if I want to do something like in the video above.
I would also like to add a blue laser later, but blue laser modules seem difficult to find at a good price.

The room in which it will be used is a 12' x 8' room. I plan to project the light on the ceiling but I don't exclude the possibility of using it on the wall where it would be more concentrated. I plan to use it regularly as ambient lighting.

I also want the brightness of each color to be as balanced as possible, of course.

So, what power do you think I shoud get for each laser, red - purple - blue to safely use in a 20' x 8' room if the beams are going to be diffracted?
Thank you!

Note that if there exists a laser show system with red, green, blue and purple lasers in it that would be safe to use in a room my size, I would go with that.

Though I have googled and haven't found a projector with both 405nm and 445nm lasers in it. I really want the pretty purple laser because of it's color, its blacklight effect and because it will look great when projected on phosphorescent paint, but I also want the colors to be the best as possible if I am to buy a RGB projector and I read here that 445nm is much better than 405nm in that matter...

There are many small laser show projectors that are exactly what you are looking for
and for around $200 or less, you need to realy make an effort to look and you will find
them, believe me they are not hiding

But the question is.. what would be safe to use in a room my size? Surely a laser show that outputs a total of 1W isn't recommended in my case.. How high can I go?

It's difficult to google anything right now, because I don't know what I am looking for because I don't know what power outputs I am looking for.

Yes I have googled RGB laser projector... but as I said, I need to know what power output I am looking for because right now, all I come across in my searches are laser projectors that are over 500mw. I have no clue what is safe for the use I want to make of it. I need to know. Please answer my question?
