Hi!
I have wanted to make a light show for a long time.
Right now on my hands, I have a 20mw purple laser module from DX and 2 diffraction gratings from DragonLasers.
Today I saw this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4j1ZmQbjoU
(Here is the setup in case you are curious : https://plus.google.com/photos/116592986723950087833/albums/5701668905206535441?banner=pwa)
I want to make the same thing. She uses a piece of frosted glass, the kind you see used for shower glass panes, but I also plan to use my 2 diffraction gratings with the same laser setup.
For now I only want 2 colors : Purple and red.
20mw for the purple laser is obviously not bright enough once diffracted with the 2 DragonLaser gratings. The dots look too dim for my own taste, so I assume it will also be much too dim if I want to do something like in the video above.
I would also like to add a blue laser later, but blue laser modules seem difficult to find at a good price.
The room in which it will be used is a 12' x 8' room. I plan to project the light on the ceiling but I don't exclude the possibility of using it on the wall where it would be more concentrated. I plan to use it regularly as ambient lighting.
I also want the brightness of each color to be as balanced as possible, of course.
So, what power do you think I shoud get for each laser, red - purple - blue to safely use in a 20' x 8' room if the beams are going to be diffracted?
Thank you!
