I've been searching around, and it seems that the FDA has finally had enough of wanton teens ordering "lasers that exceed class IIa/IIIR" and "parts that may be assembled to become such a laser".

Customs and border protection have locked down and been confiscating packages left and right. It seems there's even been an arrest recently in Denver for someone aiming a blue laser out his window at people and aircraft.

Laserglow has also refused shipping to the USA for handhelds recently it seems, as well as Amazon cracking down on product registration.

well yes the arrest makes 100% sense to me since that is a felony for one.

The customs and border protection crap i could care less about because its smarter to buy your stuff within the country and not have to worry about customs. People are retarded and I agree with you on that statement but in reality, the FDA has been saying this stuff for a while. To me, im not really concerned ATM but if they really do take action then yes id be afraid
 
I dont think it was a bad idea but maybe aircraft companies should look into coating the windshields with anti-laser coating of some kinda instead of glasses. kinda like tinting windows on cars to protect against the sun :thinking:

I know. I remember, but the thing is...they are now taking action. they've issued notices to major manufacturers and confiscating all lasers or potential laser products now without any form of inspection. I feel this is a ugly foreshadowing.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, thats what they said about the light bulb, internet, wireless phones, cars.........get the point? Nothing is impossible and this is in fact so easy! Its taking the same coating found in laser glasses and adding a small layer to aircraft windshield :thinking: thats not hard
 
the way plane windows are currently made is to break up the sun light into its various wavelengths in order to reduce glare from the sun for pilots... this same idea makes it so a concentrated amount of a single wavelength(laser) will be dispersed throughout the entire wind shield, creating a blinding barrier of a single color.

Well not really. It would drastically reduce your visibility in the cockpit, especially at night, and you couldn't do it for all wavelengths. (not without blocking out all light out anyway)
 
The punishment for those who do stupid crap like shining lasers at planes should be forced to view a 40W knife edged focused beam straight in the eyes for 30 seconds a piece.

Guns kill people, that's why most people have more respect for them and don't go "shooting at traffic" for fun.

In the hands of an idiot lasers are harmless. There's no respect for the power.

Yes, I can't seem to find the article i was directly referring to. i'll see if i can track it down again. but you can bet that if laserglow is clamming up....its serious. they ship worldwide, and if they make a blurb specifically about the US, which im sure was one of their major buyers...then the _ has hit the fan hard.
 
No you cant do it for all wavelengths but you can easily do 405-532nm that just leaves out the red side of the spectrum. I walk around with my eagle pair on fine in low light. Its just adds an orange tint to everything and ive never flown a plane but if the clouds show up as orange instead of white :thinking: who cares? only problem i can see is landing. they might need to make it so the laser protection is able to be put up and taken down. idk glasses may be the best way but dam, it shouldnt have to come to that! screw retarded laser owners! they need to shine their lasers in their own eyes and see how it feels!

EDIT: its not on LG's site, ive already checked. their policies and shipping areas are still the same

Gets down to fact still no aircraft have been bought down by a idiot with a laser so its still not fact that a laser will cause a crash there is two pilots both get blinded enough to not be able to see, what are the odds ,I'm not even aware of a pilot just one being blinded for more than a few seconds brief flash blind ....bottom line is punish the idiot not the laser by heading down road of no hand held lasers and totally agree you can buy a rifle which has a massively higher chance of causing a plane crash than a laser especially if its low power
