Whoa, seems you can now get even MORE power with $5.00 glasses! Cool! Get a 5mW RPL, transform it into a 1W megamachine with these glasses!

To be serious, laser glasses enhance lasers because it allows you to see the dot more clearly by blocking out the light to a manageable level, it helps with burning since you can see the dot and find the best focus point

My, are we picky today. Would YOUR postings hold up to that level of scrutiny?

EDIT: They're red. According to the description, they enhance the visibility of the beam. So it appears they really are "enhancement" goggles, they transmit red and block (attenuate) everything else. So they would definitely NOT class as "protection" goggles - quite the opposite. An accident waiting to happen, really.

I actually think they WOULD block blu-ray and green. I got a pair of glasses with a red laser leveler. They won't block red for sh*t, but they'll block green and blu-ray. Seriously, I think these would work fine, and I'm thinking about getting a pair to test in order to show it.

(I'd pay $5 for it. I plan on bidding at the last second. I'd appreciate it if no1 else bids on it. Unless, if someone else here wants it, just post here that you do, and I might not bid - no point in us paying more money)

if your looking for green or BR protection I bet they would work fine IMHO.

Probably they would work for blocking non-red, but still they're not a replacement for "real" green/BR protection glasses. Because the point is not just in blocking light (a piece of black cardboard would do that), but also in transmitting as much as feasible of the non-laser-wavelength light, to impair vision as little as possible (of course subject to cost/result tradeoffs).

I have a pair of cheap "work safety" goggles, at home (they're NOT laser safety goggles, only those eye-protectors for when you work with tools), and are orange plastic ..... i tried them with green, but you can still see half of the beam (and LPM still measure 29mW through them, with my old 50mW (55 effective), so they worth absolutely nothing for green.

But i discovered that, being made with plastic and dye opaque to UV, they are good for BR (measuring 114mW BR through them, no read at all, and using them, i see the dot only when it hit something like white paper and cotton fabric, that become fluorescent, so i see the white part as light orange) ..... i'm not so stupid to look in the diode, anyway, but can say that, for accidental reflections and diffusions with BR, 4 euro of goggles worth the expense, if you have nothing better at hand (just cause i don't want to risk to scratch, break or loose, carrying around 80 euro of pro goggles when i want just do some experiments outside with BR :p :D)

Still, i always suggest to use these cheap things, if someone want, just as "last chance" solution, cause real protection is too much important for play too easy with it ..... after all, we just have two eyes ..... ;)

By the way, anyone tested transmissivity and OD of the cheap focalprice ones, for green/br/uv ? (that, btw, are the same of the o-like ones) ..... i ordered a pair for do some tests, but shipment from there to Italy can take 25 / 30 days, as usual :p

I'm posting on an Internet forum, I'm not selling stuff that was meant to protect a person's eyes.

That may be. OEMLasersystems sells "Laser protective eyewear", would you make fun of them also? To me, the wording is perfectly normal and understandable in both cases. "Vision enhancement", on the other hand, is definitely wrong, as vision is not enhanced at all - just the visibility of the laser beam. But "laser beam visibility enhancement glasses" would be highly inelegant language. It seems more a "bash the new kid" syndrome, unfortunately very common here.

Laser protective eyewear

That is a proper name in my opinion.

Ebert, I won't go on with this, I don't want to turn this into a war, I was just stating my opinion, not looking for a fight.

And sorry but I don't think LPF bashes "new kids". O-Like and Rayfoss started business here and grew very quickly, nobody bashed them. After lots and lots of questions which were correctly answered they kept on growing. A seller must know what he/she is selling and that's what we're looking for here on LPF.
