Default IR filter on DX 30?

Long time reader, first time poster....

I just rec'd my DX30 after a 45 day wait, and one of the first things I did with it was to check the IR leakage with a digital camcorder in "NightShot" mode. Now, either I did something wrong in setting the camcorder, or this laser is spewing IR all over the place. My question is this: Is this laser reputed to come with an IR filter inside? Cause if not, I'd really like to try to fabricate one for it, just seems kind of dangerous to use it without one. Or do I need to get hold of special goggles perhaps? Any comments, tips, tricks, warnings, and admonishiments are welcome.....

Well I know mine has a filter but that doesn't prove that yours does.
As for goggle they are a good idea as the reflection off these things is nasty.
Cant really trust the camera unless you have something that you know can block IR so you can see a difference.
They could have change the design but in mine the IR filter is inside under the focus lens

So far no one (if they did they havent told) has gotten a true laser without an ir filter, the filter is not very good tho so anything above the true 50 and the filter starts to be overwhelmed by all the ir and lets some thru. *You cant really see ir with a camera because the green will over whelm it. *You would need to shine it thru some laser goggles onto the wall and look where the spot should be with the camera to see if their is ir. *Or you could get some 3d goggles and use the red side to substitie for the goggles just to shign on the wall, dont do this for more than 10sec at a time or the film on the 3d gogles will start to melt thru (DO NOT USE TO PROTECT YOUR EYES THEY CAN MELT RIGHT THRU). *Goggles for red and green lasers are about $40 each so not too bad consedireing you only have 1 pair of eyes and you dont get new ones :P. *Goggles for ir often are quite a bit more expensive, more around the $200 dollor range but if there is ir comin from the laser the best way is just to buy an ir filter, here is an ir filter, im sure its a good one too nowing nova how good they are, its reletively cheap too...http://www.novalasers.com/NOVAstore/...p;idproduct=68

I know how to test it. I'll make a video of how to test it later.
