Obviously The Customs here in Australia didnt like the fact that i imported a couple of lasers from ledshoppe.com,
yep they where confiscated  :'( :'( :'(
they where over 1mw which i found out was the limit :'(
But still there was no Warning on o-like's website about shipping to AUS :-/

Edit: Sorry my purchase was from Ledshoppe not O-Like.com, no problems with O-Like ;)

It's not their job to teach you. It is your job to know.

To True Dave
Mistakes are part of the Learning Process i guess.
I heard alot of talk on this forum about laser pointers bieng illegal to import into america,
But not much on importing to Aus, some seem to believe its not illegal and some say only in certain states and what not :-[
Now i no...haha ;)
Just hope i dont get Fined :'( :'( :'(

Were they complete laser pointers or modules? You CAN legally import modules.

Most likely, all that will happen is,

You wont get a fine.
Your Address will be logged, and any future "imports", might be classed higher in thier scanning.

but, if this is like, your 5th attepmt at it, youll be Fined.

Us poor aussie mob ay.

I'm living in Australia too, hell to get any low-powered lasers really. High power you just buy a DVD drive...lol

But do you think customs would allow modules such as the below ones? (exuse ridiculous amount of editing needed to follow the link, this is my first post ;D

http: //o-like . com/ b2b_cpinfo . asp?id=839

I just want a low powered laser

As those are modules, you should have no problem.

I've imported successfully a 140mW green module. So you'll be alright I reckon.

Man I'm glad I got all my lasers before the ban, since it seems they're enforcing it

Yep it would seem that way, Its a bummer though because there's all these cheap green and red pointers out there that us in Aus just dont have access to anymore :'( :'( :'(
Also it puts any portable blue's out of the question-not that i can afford one right now! haha

We regularly ship high powered laboratory lasers and components to Australia and New Zealand. Never had a problem with that type of equipment. It does, however, take freakin' forever to clear customs. I have one in transit now to New Zealand. It is destined for a university and landed in customs on 12 DEC 08 and cleared customs on 13 JAN 09. So they do look at them very closely or they are on one heck of a lunch break.
