The last thing I just read was that you've ordered so much you can't recall everything thats on its way. And after trying to buy that host from Helios.

Hey, I know I've got 2 hosts coming from Luke, and one I'm trying to get Ray to sell me, but I think that's about it in the way of hosts.

You said it, not me. Except you just called it an obsession, it's actually more like an addiction. :D

Gotta have it, gotta have it, gotta have it.......NOW! :takeit: :banghead:

Yeah, I have to learn restraint, and the meaning of a savings acount. :D

As others have said you dont need to dispose of it (those posts were jokes). Just get an IR filter or use it very carefully knowing it has IR leakage. I have a few greens that put out IR and its really not a problem as long as you use them accordingly.

Altogether a very refreshingly pleasant thread:D

As others have said, no need to toss out the laser. For use outside that model is pretty nice. (Should be if it's even 50mW:))

If you're careful and stick to pointing at the clear sky (no planes/helicopters) you will be fine.

IR filter is only really a must if you plan to use the laser indoors, and to hit reflective surfaces, or attempt to burn imo. If you do want to do that, easier course might be to just get goggles that block IR: Eagle Pair® 190-540nm & 900-1700nm Laser Safety Goggles

I thought I would bypass recriminations and mockery by humbling myself before the knowledge and wisdom of the posters here.

@Sapient:

I see this issue completely differently.

I think you should ask yourself why you are feeling so insecure a very short time after you made a decision that in this case is to enter the laser hobby and to buy a laser.

Do you feel like this in other decisions you take in other aspects of your life?

The laser that you bought is not dangerous if you use common sense and follow some basic safety rules, first and foremost to use goggles.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will give it all the consideration it deserves, plus the time it took to read and respond to.

Guy, just enjoy your laser.

Shine it up into the sky at night (with no airplanes or jets flying overhead) with no eye protection (but ALWAYS aimed up at the sky, treat it like a loaded gun if pointed at people outside in the dark).

Enjoy it with protective glasses indoors or burning stuff anywhere.

Put an IR filter on it if you like.

Just Chill Out and enjoy it, and have fun with it, following safety rules that are not to onerous.

This is not a big deal.
