Like I posted over there.... The kid was lucky that it was "Laser Wizardry"

OK, I just got a call from Karl, the drops from the exam haven't wore off yet, but he has had both a digital retinal scan and a manual scan. Clean bill of health except for some serious muscle strain, which the eye doctor says is normal in patients who have had laser eye surgery or other traumatic stress to the eye. It will be another week before we know about the muscles/strain going away, but right now he has a preliminary good result. This means no detectable lesions. Emphasis on DETECTABLE, that does not mean damage did not occur. Major league pain and eye strain did occur, to the point he has trouble reading or driving. The exam itself is stressful and is painful when the drugs wear off.

This again is preliminary, it will be a week or so before we know anything for sure.

And Karl has one heck of a bill to submit to his insurance plus some lost work days.

This could have been avoided. And the pointer was HOT enough that it came with Goggles by default.

Keep in mind Karl was not the only one hit. :(

<snip>

The kid was fortunate with the outcome, IMO let this be a warning!

Well, "fortunate" is open to interpretation. :p

To the enthusiast: he was unlucky because his laser was wrecked.
To the layman: he was lucky because he merely got his laser wrecked instead of going to jail.
