How to determine class of a laser?

In some project I do, I am allowed to use only 1 and 1M classes of lasers according to EN60825 standard.

I could not even find the standard itself, but nevertheless I have found the presentation about laser safety (attached).

But still confused.

What are the conditions (restrictions) to define a laser as 1 or 1M class?

Thanks for the reply. I have checked that, but still a bit confused.
For example, for Laser class 1 it says that MPE can not be exceeded when viewing a laser with a naked eye. According to this plot:

If I am using a laser in a range 400-700nm, and emmiting light on a spot longer than 10s, I am allowed to use a laser up to 1mW if a diameter of a beam is > 3,568mm (which gives > 1cm^2 area).

Am i correct?

I think 1M is the old system.
Nowadays it's the Class I, Class II, Class IIIa, IIIb and Class IV.

AFAIK 1M is equivalent to Class I, which is any laser which would not cause damage to the eye under normal conditions of operation, which is any laser that is enclosed while in operation or below 1mW. Something like that.

EDIT: An old CD player I yanked apart for the bits read Class 1M on the tray. So I am quite sure that what i wrote is correct.

CheeseHasLeafs, no, Class 1 and Class 1m is a new system, class IIIa etc is an old one.

So, does anyone have a clue whether my calculations in a previous post are correct? Was anyone dealing with this standard before?

Class I/IM means that it is like a CD player or a fax machine, and the beam is not viewable while in operation. period.

Class II/IIM would be like a grocery barcode scanner less than 1mW of power by emission, safe to view for 1000 seconds directly or less

class IIIa/IIIR is like a laser pen (1-4.9mW), safe for only blink reflex level exposure. (avg. exposure of 1/100th of a second)

class IIIb is 5-499mW instant eye damage.

class IV is anything over 500mW period. instant eye damage, can burn skin on contact usually, fire hazards, etc.
