Hello to all, Im new in this forum and made this account because Im worried about my vision. Last night, my little brother was playing around with a Chinese Pen sized red laser <5mw 650nm +-10. The laser hit a mirror and hit my eyes 2 times, I looked away almost instantly. I could not get away from him because we were having dinner at night, and he was playing with the laser pointing it at the mirror and trying to hit my face with the reflection. The thing is that now my vision feels odd, kinda "distracted" as I like to say. I do not see any distortions or that sort of thing, but I feel that reading stuff in my cellphone is kinda weird now. Could I have some sort of eye/retina damage??? In advance, thank you very much.

In this case, I sincerely hope this IS our forum story teller, but go ahead and give him the same advice for such anyway... not that anyone is following what I say.

If you are not just a troll trolliing---go see an eye MD and have your eyes examined if you are worried is best advice

Nobody here can evaluate you eyes nor tell you anything different.

If the laser is actually <5mw you should be totally fine. If it was overspec you might have some problems. I honestly hope this is a troll post, otherwise you should probably go punch your brother in the face for being a retard.

Is there any way of knowing if it was overspec?? I can post a picture of the laser in question, or at least, the safety label.

Posting a picture of the laser would be helpful. Was it some dollar store/pet laser or one of those ebay laser pointers?

Your fine. A laser that cheap/weak will not hurt you. Unless you are an albino or something. Wash your eyes in some cool water. And go get them checked by an eye doctor. Oh and punch your little shit brother in the face, and take that laser away from him till he matures enough to use it properly

Also as mentioned many times - go to see doctor. Noone could examine you remotely or recommend anything else than to see eye specialist. If the laser is really not more than 5 mW (and not green cheap laser as these are often overspec = more power than stated) and you do not stare to the beam intentionaly, it is likely you are fine - just to keep you calmer in meantime. But you will not know for sure unless doctor says you. However do not over worry, just wait for diagnosis. Regarding your brother - he should not have any laser of any power untill he is wise enough to treat lasers with respect. Seriously - lasers (even pointers) are not toys. Give him low powered flashlight for pointing mirrors.

It was a gift from a friend so I could have a better time in university. since it doesnt have any sort of safety manual and only the label , Im guessing its a cheap stuff.

EDIT: I removed the label from the laser so I could take a better picture! thanks!

Can you post the laser itself and not a picture of the label?

Thanks for your words. He got grounded and the laser is now under my control :gun:

I really hope the laser is not overspec as someone else said, and the light is red, I looked away almost instantly, that comes to my favor :(
