Harsh sentence for pointing at helicopter in Germany

this sentence for the offending that OP explained was clearly NOT enough , the title was so wrong also, I wish someone like that got like 5+ years jail then people spread the word so that others who are stupid laser owners and may point at aircrafts/vehicles etc would thing twice before doing so,
Here In NZ there was a incident I read in the paper about two weeks ago:

""Green laser beams thought to be powerful enough to blind a pilot are being pointed at aeroplanes passing over the North Canterbury township of Hanmer Springs.

Police scoured two campgrounds east of the town after the latest laser strike about 10.30pm on Saturday, but did not find the "irresponsible" culprit.

The Air New Zealand A320, flying from Auckland to Christchurch, was at an altitude of about 26,000 feet and gradually descending when the pilot noticed a green light inside the cockpit, Senior Constable Chris Hughey said.

The light was powerful enough to affect both the pilot, who had already been hit a couple of times, and co-pilot.

"Whoever was holding the laser was successful at keeping the beam on them for 10 seconds. Fortunately they were at high altitude. If it had been targeted at low altitude, it could have blinded the pilot," Hughey said.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman Mike Richards said pointing lasers at planes was a serious offence under the Civil Aviation Act.

The offender could be charged with causing unnecessary danger, and face a term of imprisonment of up to 12 months or a fine of up to $10,000""

The law is changing in NZ In one month from today on March 1st for Sale/Import/Acquisition or lasers more than 1mW and idiots like this are just reinforcing the need for this law,

here in egypt the laser laws are different in fact i think there isn't any laws for lasers here......in the "30th of June" the people were "cheering" the army helicopters with 100 s of lasers (mostly 5-100mw green)

you are totally right ... but even if there is laser laws the police have bigger problems than people pointing lasers at aircrafts (such as disabling the bombs that the terrorists (muslim brotherhood) place every where in Egypt every day ) :cryyy:

Wholy shit? are you serious, You need to get a picture of that stupid shit! 100s of lasers at choppers.....WTF , very bad. but a picture would be good to use as worst case scenario example on here

Elsewhere, the idea of attempting Jihad by lasering a plane cockpit is also ill-conceived. There's no guarantee and the beam is a dead-giveway of one's location unlike a sniper's low profile. Feds can zero in on the laserist and shoot them on sight based on current anti-terrorism laws. It's suicide but then again they already lug belt-bombs.

actually it is understandable if they are trying to let the helicopter fall ..but when they try to show their support for the army it is crazy !!
but simply it is due to the lack of knowledge of 90% of egyptians

That is just unbelievably Stupid! As I posted earlier here in Australia anything over 1W is classed as a weapon. The day will come when the Military or Police in some countries Will start firing on people who aim lasers at them. The police and military have protective eyewear but as lasers get more powerful how effective will this be?

Thanks for sharing the pics Sherif, although I don't like all the laser laws to some extent I see why there needs to be some sort of regulations. These picture certainly highlight that need!

I'm trying to think of the best way to respond to this tactfully, provoking the mind and not emotions, it will be hard, and might be deemed inappropriate by mods, but I won't be condemning anyone to any hell, real or imagined. plus it's not really on the topic of the thread, but we have drifted, evolved, organically conversed, whatever, to this point.

I would say that followers of islam, both advocating peace and violence draw inspiration from the holy text. I also have no doubt that passages supporting both violence and peace can be found within the text. It's really no different than the Bible. there are Christians who say turn the other cheek and love your enemy, as well as the kill 'em all and let god sort 'em out type. I mean, how many crusades were there? over 10, 13 or so if I remember. Some christians say Jesus changed everything, and at that point god ceased to be so centered on blood sacrifice, death, genocide, infanticide and absolute obedience and became much more merciful and loving, accepting all who seek him. yet Christ himself said in the bible he didn't come to abolish the law but fulfill it, so are we to stone to death disobediant children, adulterers, workers of the sabbath, etc. or not?

It's my position that both books were creations of men, all the various interpretations cause much un-needed division and hatred among humans. If there is a God, I would kindly ask he/she/it clear the matter up it'self. In the texts, the ancient peoples witnessed miracles directly, meaning that they need not have faith in god, he was made apperant to them. why are we required to go on faith alone and books that by all appearances were written by fallible men? are we less important than they, or does this God enjoy seeing billions of people devote energy to opposing eachother based on books it supposedly authored.

I submit that the sooner we realize there is only us, and that no deity is coming to save us from ourselves, the sooner the world will know, well a much better place than we have currently.

I could be wrong though, I am just a fallible human.

every one has the right to think and believe in whatever he wants as long as he doesn't harm or hate people who have different thoughts , take it easy

Those pictures highlight some serious shit ae, the pilot must be a good driver or something, imagine if it crashed and blew up , with that many people crammed in one spot it would almost be guarunteed to kill 180+ people and it would be self caused.... Ive downloaded all the photos for safe keeping too, haha

Laser pointer regulations are such a first-world problem.

People are lighting up police aircraft in Egypt because of protests, rallies and even riots. It's a show of defiance that won't get them killed the way that shooting a gun at the vehicle might. Maybe they should have some regulations against throwing rocks too? Sheesh.

Yea i bet even if for some weird reason they protested to bring laser laws in and misused them on helicopters they would still be ignored and laws wouldnt change, they have a heap of other things to worry about, they have strong people power though. Il give them that, most people in civilized countries would sit on the couch and watch the news etc in support of the people power!

Just to make it clear ... those are army aircrafts not police air crafts.....and it is NOT a show of defiance
The situation is we were ruled by the "muslim brotherhood " and we wanted the army to take them down ....those helicopters were throwing us with egyptian flags

The only reason the people pointed lasers on those helicopters was to celebrate .....they didn't know that those lasers would harm the helicopter !!
