Goggles working correctly?

I bought a pair of 808nm blocking goggles in the recent LG GB and I have been using them a lot when I play with 808nm laser diodes and crystal sets. One thing weird is that I can see a red dot coming from these lasers with my goggles on. I accidentally hit a reflective surface with a ~200mW 808nm laser of mine while I was wearing those goggles and I saw the light pretty well. This concerns me considering the goggles are OD7 for 800nm-830nm. Do the 808nm laser diodes just have a little bit of a secondary emission color or something and that's what I'm seeing? Any answers are appreciated!

I have OD-4's that I use for playing with 808's etc. I also see the faint red glow, but I dont think you have to worry. When I use my Sony Nightshot, the IR is clear as day. If I put my goggles in between the cam and the diode, no IR is present. I think its a low emmision in the upper 600nm or lower 700nm area. I have noticed this when building with 1watt 9mm diodes and got a bit nervous, but it doesnt seem to be any power high enough to worry about.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I can get back to building my IR pen then. :p

How many mW you got up our sleeve on that one?

Only about 200mW or so, it is from a dead Lyra-F. When I have the IR diode powered up I can stick the crystal set in front and a nice bright dot of green comes out in perfect TEM00. I was hoping I could get some cool looking modes by turning the set but it just stayed round.

Remember, there is also 1064nm light present after the first crystal... I would be careful, and test them with a power meter and the correct filters. Your eyes are worth to much to go on a hunch. I can see the red dot without my goggles, but with them on, I can not.
