Default Glasses for a Violet Laser

I was thinking about buying a 200mW 405nm (violet) laser [aHR0cDovL2hpZ2h0ZWNoZGVhbHouY29tL2luZGV4LnBocD9tYW luX3BhZ2U9cHJvZHVjdF9pbmZvJmNQYXRoPTEmcHJvZHVjdHNf aWQ9MzE=] and I was wondering if these [aHR0cDovL3d3dy5kcmFnb25sYXNlcnMuY29tL2NhdGFsb2cvR3 JlZW4tYW5kLWJsdWUtbGFzZXItYmVhbS1wcm90ZWN0aW9uLS1M YXNlci1zYWZldHktZ2xhc3Nlcy1wLTE2MjQyLmh0bWw=] would be a good pair of safety glasses for this laser. All the specs seem to match, but I thought I'd ask before I risked burning my eyes out by being wrong. Thank you.

NOTE: The forum wasn't liking my links so I had to base64 encode them. I'd give you a link to a decoder, but it would probably choke on that too. :P

OEM Laser Systems (oemlasersystems.com) is the best place to buy protective eye gear. They have many frame styles and the ones that cover 405nm also cover 532nm, so you can use one pair of glasses safely with two different wavelengths. These glasses (AL-2) are OD 2+ for both 405 and 532. The least expensive frame style is about $48 (and they are in the US). Even if you took a direct shot from your blu ray with the glasses on (which hopefully you would not), it would be effectively reduced to <2mW. These glasses also enable me to still see the beam of my CNI PGL III-C 250mW green at night with the glasses on. The laser actually peaks and stays steady at about 290mW. CNI lasers are steady and solid as most of you in the current group buy will soon see. Also, I could not see your link. * Bill

For other members, here is his first link:
http://hightechdealz.com/index.php?m...products_id=31
second link:
http://www.dragonlasers.com/catalog/...s-p-16242.html

And to OP, those glasses will work, but they are not certified. Many members have had good experiences with them, unlike OEMlasersystems, dragonlaser's goggles are not officially approved to effectively stop the laser. That is not to say they won't (they should), but they are not garunteed to.

But yes, the laser you linked to is 405nm and those goggles cover 190nm to 500nm IIRC, so they are covered

What WRM said.... Also - your link does not work because the forum rules require you to have 10 posts before you can post links. So essentially by encoding the links you have made a workaround to break the rules in your very first post here..... lol

Meh, as if anyone is going to pass a base64 string through a decoder to turn it into a URL.

Thank you, everybody, for the replies. Sorry if posting a link on my first post is considered wrong in some way, but it was essential for asking what I thought to be at least a semi-intelligent question. Anyway, thanks for the help.

P.S. And no, no one is forcing you to decode my URLs. But being that the only way to constructively contribute to this thread is by visiting the links, I figured anyone who really wanted to help me would be kind enough to take the extra few seconds to do so. And again, I would have loved to "give you a link to a decoder, but it would probably choke on that too. :P"
