Feeling a Little Paranoid

A friend of mine and I recently got into the hobby of lasers, and I learned he was getting a 1W 445nm laser from O-like, this one might be the correct one, but I'm not entirely sure. Being a pretty steep jump up in power from previous lasers we've used, I was wondering if these glasses would be fine, as that's what he ordered 405nm,445nm,808nm,1064nm safety goggles/200-450,740-2000nm [OLLS1064] - $45.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce is the link to them, and he primarily bought them because I believe he said they were on sale. Now I look around here and see various different glasses held on a higher esteem than others, but I'm just worried if these glasses will be enough to protect him, and me, when using the laser itself. Seeing some of the stories about accidents happening on here has me a little freaked out, I mean, I usually will overdramatize things, but since we all only have two eyes, I want to take the greatest precautions possible. So are those glasses good enough to use when using this laser, or would it be in the best interest to invest in another pair?

I have no idea about those particular goggles, especially since there is little data on the site. Instead, I would get a pair like these which other people have tested as working fine. They're also cheaper and don't come (directly) from China.

OEM brand goggles are considered one of the best. The ARG model would give you great protection at the 445nm wavelegnth (OD7+). Here is the link.

Yes, those ARG goggles are great (I've got some myself), though twice the price of the Eagle pair. So if you want certified protection, go for the ones from OEM. The Eagle pair are not certified by official standards, though people have run tests and they're considered up to the task as well.

Those goggles look like eagle pair, and the price fits, but really as BB says, there is absolutely no data on them.

For 445nm specifically, there are even cheaper options than eagle pair, but imo, eagle pair are more than up to the task, at least for anything handheld, under 2.5W (Max I've tested to myself).

Okay, well the general consensus seems to be that they are still unknown quality-wise, so is there any way to test this once they do come in? Or is it pretty much hope for the best and then order another pair of glasses when possible?

Of course even with that, it's no guarantee, and does result in destroying a pair of goggles.

If I were you, I would cancel the order from o-like, and grab a pair from survival laser.
