Is EP good enough?

Im going to be purchasing some saftey glasses soon as im now terrified of a laser hitting me in the eye afer reading some posts of horror stories both on this website and others.

So Is EP good enough or should i be looking at something better?

Will be used with under 1W lasers(for now anyways lol maybe in a few years ill be more brave)

There seems to be some different opinions of EP out there but i see there are knock off copies of there glasses which obviously are probably not to the same quality level and could explain the different opinions of this brand.

So if they are good enough whats a good place to buy them thats legit?

If they arnt good enough what are some other brands to consider?

I have Eagle pairs, and I have tested them with an lpm and they work great. I made a thread about it if you want to see it. As arg said, certified glasses ate better though. I have a pair of lasershields, and they are far better than my eagle pair. However, if your on a budget Eagle pair are a great choice, I highly recommend them.

Thanks since they are in Canada it's worth it to order from them over a us company, I ordered some glasses as well as a 3-5mw red and green laser from them.

Actually I got my laser pair in Canada from the gemology website. You can read my thread here on where they can be purchased. http://laserpointerforums.com/f53/cheap-eagle-pair-canada-87691.html I think this pair is the better quality eagle pair.Bonus for you because they are in Vancouver!

An OD4 Eagle Pair should theoretically be fine for almost any laser us hobbyists would legally be able to get our hands on. However, having been hit with a strong reflection from a 445 I can say I wouldn't trust an Eagle Pair with a very powerful handheld laser, like some of the new 4W+ 445s we're seeing on the market. I also have an OD2.5 Eagle Pair which appear to be all but useless for anything except a very weak laser - the dot is very visible as is the beam at certain angles of even my modest 635.

After my reflection in the Eagle Pair (which didn't damage my eyes just left me feeling a bit uneasy) I went and bought a pair of certified ARG lens goggles - they completely cover the eyes and have very good visibility as well as enough stopping power to save one's eyes from lasers even with serious burning power.

The eagle pair I have linked to are OD+5 . I think they would probably be better than what you were talking about, but you could correct me if I am wrong!

The visible light transmission on that web page is wrong, it is not >60%. Glasses like this are usually 30% or less, and the less you can see the more inherent hazard there is ie risk of tripping.

I can say from experience that 20% VLT can be quite hard to work with. It is useful that they protect against nIR, though.

Personally I think if you're going to be using multiwatt lasers it's only right to invest in certified, hard-ass goggles that not only have excellent VLT but also really high levels of laser light blocking.

I find them quite excellent to work with! I also have a pair of noir lasershields that I bought from a member on here and they work awesome as well.

So I receive my Safety Glasses from Laser glow this morning and I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM.

These are so much better than a friends Eagle pair I tried once it ridicules(granted his could have been cheap knock off's) I would say the EP's I tried might have had 20-25% VLT and made doing anything with them on almost impossible unless you had a spotlight shining in the room you were in.

With this pair from LG you can still see as good as most pairs of sunglasses, and the OD7+ rating makes me feel pretty confident.

Also worth noting that wearing these around the house makes everything look rather interesting

now when I get my set of EP's from Survival laser to cover the red spectrum I should be set for safety glasses.
