I'm fairly new to lasers, and Ive been reading on the forums that Eaglepair is a pretty good brand to go with as far as goggles go. Well I ordered a pair from Survivallaser.com (Eagle Pair® 190-400nm & 580-760nm Laser Safety Goggles) Well I put them on and I guess there is a gap below the glasses as if they don't fit properly. A beam could shine right through that, anybody else have theirs not fit properly?

I do not own any pair of Eagle goggles, but you would have to be highly unlucky for a beam to shine right through that "Gap", but SurvivalLasers is a great company with very high quality goggles, as long as you be careful around your laser the gap shouldn't be too big of a deal :beer:

I've never purchased sport style goggles for this reason, all of my personal goggles are similar to this

To be honest I have had that happen once or twice. Now I just make sure I dont try to look around corners with the goggles on. Basically turn your head and dont look out of the corner of your eyes.

Oh I once had a flash from under the goggles and so I used superglue to attach sections of bike inner tube to the bottom of the goggles. That worked perfectly! :) I posted a pic on the forum once before, so Ill have a look for you.:beer:

EYE use my EYELIDS to protect my eyes from lazerz :eek: No, but seriously i am too scared to use anything 100mW+ indoors without any proper protection. A few seconds of coolness is not worth loosing my vision. I have an eagle pair and i love them!

No goggles can be designed to fit every face and head. This is not a question of quality as the OP implies, rather of the reality of a cool design not fitting on his noggin properly.

I might also recommend being aware of reflective surfaces in the environment you plan to lase in... I wouldn't consider the "gap" you mention as a function of the goggle quality. It's like putting on a shoe that doesn't fit perfectly... it doesn't mean the shoe is poor quality.

I'm extremely happy with both EaglePair goggles that I own.

Great idea! I noticed that the design of my new Eagle Pair® 190-400nm & 580-760nm Laser Safety Goggles allows light in along the bottom due to the odd sculpted shape. So last night I attached sections of bicycle inner tube using silicone glue (in case I ever need to remove it), then I trimmed to shape with scissors:

UPDATE: Silicone was not such a great adhesive. It sticks to the glasses, but after some usage, the rubber peeled away. So now I've used superglue like Grainde.

Nice modification! I'm going to try something like that too good idea
