Obviously you can't be a neanderthal running around with a handheld laser.
I am basically trying to get squared away on the safety precautions of the almighty laser.

Obviously the first is to Not point it directly at any living thing especially around the eyes (even with protection).

Wear eye protection for the appropriate wave length.

(something I learned from a buddy) When doing astronomy to circle around a star instead of pointing at it. Helps the off-chance it was mistakenly a plane.
Cover your rear and save a pilot.

Generally with anything over 1000mw Use indoors with no windows and a controlled access room.

Avoid reflecting objects (unless specifically for that reason)

- Whatever you want to add on that I forgot to mention please let me know.

I have only been experimenting with lasers for a few months now (<- newb) and want to sharpen up my safety.

Common sense is the best rule you can ever follow. Don't forget it.
