Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

Just read on wikipedia that those IR diodes usually have a wavelength of about 940nm. Perhaps I should just wait until I receive the laser diode

DO NOT SHOOT LASERS AT SAFETY GOGGLES. I did this by accident and it burned right through very quickly.

Im no expert on the subject, I really just wanted you to think outside the square before blaming the glasses, I would say your camera will have a filter in it otherwise they would take shitty normal photos, also if it didnt have an IR filter the diode would look ALOT more brighter through the camera than what it does currently, i took the IR/UV filter out of an xbox360 USB camera for IR experiments and it made a HUGE difference(camera takes shity colour Pics/video now though)
Im not 100% but i think t.v remotes tend to use 940nm diodes, i replaced one of my remote diodes with 940nm and remote worked fine after so thats the reason i think that, so if im right then the glasses may be letting all the 940nm through and that would support you results

I'll take a look if I have some IR laser diodes laying around, and check if the glasses do work on them.

You could sacrifice a 532nm pen and take the crystal set off if your desparate and have a spare one laying around

I found an IR diode from a CD burner.
The glasses indeed work great on them, nothing comes through.

However, when tilting the glasses; almost all the light comes through?
Or when the light source is not in front of me, but higher above, I can also suddenly see it.
Is this normal?

Alright I have received my 5A IR laser diode, and tested the glasses with this one.
The glasses work perfectly, but not when looking through the glasses at steep angles.

I haven't tried shining the laser directly through the glasses, and I'm also not planning to do this. All I tested was looking at the spot through the glasses.
