Re: Could  I make laser shades?

well, the truth is, I am almost blind in one eye.

It was a birth thing.

Now I don't know if it could be called "blind", but as far as I know, being blind is the in-ability to see properly.

My right eye is unable to "process" what I see properly.  I'm gonna get laser shades, but I just wanted to run tests to see what would happen if I tried to filter out the red with tinted plexi.

I'll try to explain the best I can:

I can look at stuff and focus my right eye.  I can focus it clearly.

but for some reason I can't "process" the image.  Kinda like looking at a large image 2000x2000 on a phone or a 100x96 screen.

You can post more than one pic per post use teh [ img ] and [ / img ] tags !! Put in the URL and you are good to go :)

I hate to say it man - but you NEED different goggles. Those really will not protect your eyes from lasers, just like I am sure it would have issues filtering out the IR emmited from a toaster :( NOT making fun of your selection - I fell into the same trap.... Ditch them, and buy others ASAP - your sight will thank you in the long run.

Re: Could  I make laser shades?

Well, I look at it this way, there's only 1 pair that's worthless now. the other one's clear so I can use it for safty glasses atleast (they're ballistics glasses so I'm sure most shop work wont bust them lol)

I wonder if I should cross-post this to CFP and LC... on the other paw CPF has gone to s*** last I checked, and LC would probably just leap on the 'buy wicked lasers goggles only!' bandwagon... (though to be fair, I'm told WL's goggles *are* very nice... I need to check my WB I might acctually have enough for a pair...)

Both Nova and Wicked sell the same goggles - so you DO have a choice on where to buy them if you do not like buying from Wicked based on personal reasons or whatever :) posting it on CPF will only draw arguments, as they are the same ones that posted that the toolbarn goggles are perfect for greenies when they most definitely are NOT any better for protection than wrapping cellophane around your head to protect you from interstellar alien communications.

Re: Could  I make laser shades?

Personally I have nothing but great things to say about wicked (well except I wish they'd lower their prices a tad) I ordered at a bad time and they reversed charges untill they coudl fill the order, then they shipped it here from china in ~4 days! Untill it was stolen my pulsar was a real trooper, enduring abuse that killed many true pointers in the past, esp good once I focus-modded it. And then there's the fact I earned free WB towards another purchase. While I cant say anything about the greenies, I had no bad experiances with my pulsar and none with WL as a dealer. (though I do know that this forum is owned by DL and as a whole seems to hate wicked.........)

and of COURSE cellophane wont work, you need tinfoil! lol!!!

CPF seems, imo, to have lsot all but one or two ppl that know their mouth from their @$$ (as proved by which end they talk out of at times...) I mean hell I'm getting more unbiased info from LC than CPF now! That's downright scary.

Re: Could  I make laser shades?

Ashton - that is a Wicked Lasers created LIE ! this forum is owned by no company at all. I know you hear that over there on LC lots, but then again you hear that Wicked puts out in spec Spyder II's also ! Ask Merl (Merlous over there) how he likes his spyder II - he has had THREE in a row come in either busted up or out of spec.....that means he has let Wicked keep his $1700 + over $100 shipping each time he has returned it for over half a year now ! He ordered it in Feb, and STILL has nothing to show for his money...other than debt. so - before you believe tales you hear over on LC about other places - go check out the stories for themselves....no, I am not pissed, I know it came across kinda stron - but this forum is NOT owned by Dragon - nor run by it either !

Re: Could  I make laser shades?

wow, I heard they had some issues with the greenies, but I didn't know it was hat bad! I guess the pulsar line is the only truely good laser they sell... do NOT understand the way they worship WL like a god though if it's that bad at making lasers....

my appoligies, I had heard that there and also I think a few times on CPF. I had noticed a lot of pople here had a lot of good things to say about dragon and few good about wicked, so you msut realize, it made the illusion that much easier to believe.

I understand :) The thing I like best about this forum is the fact that you CAN discuss any company on it....the nuetrality of the forum (maybe not of some of it's members !) is what attracted me to begin with :)

CPF has turned into a waste for laser discussion. However for everything else that forum is great IMO. For example, I have learned a lot about batteries, chargers, LED flashlights, and so on. But this forum is where it's at as far as laser discussion is concerned.

Re: Could  I make laser shades?

ya they have one little section for lasers then that's it for lasers ;D but yeah, this forum isn't the official forum of any company, just a place for disscussing ALL types of lasers, be it DX, WL, DL, LG, NL etc: ;)

Re: Could  I make laser shades?

@ gazoo: I posted on there about a week ago asking about a good NVG (Night vision goggles) starter set and nobody would say anything... I think 3/4 of them left when they made the new rules and took the site down for so long

Phazonx, sorry, of course I had no way of knowing you have eye trouble. It is all the more reason to be extremely careful and use proper protection. I am glad you decided to get lasershades... ;)

Yeah, I have noticed the new rules but really have not noticed the lack of activity. Maybe because I don't visit there as often as I used to and when I do, I go through the laser section and the flashlights-batteries included thread. I used to browse all of the led sections but lost interest in them when I started to take in interest in lasers.. ;D However I must admit I am amazed at how bright LED flashlights are these days. I had no idea until I found CPF and learned of the LED minimag replacement. It is so much brighter than the bulb it always amazes me. But I think I would rather be going crazy over lasers, although I do understand how any hobby can become addictive.
