Cheap red laser glasses

Any advice about a pair of cheap laser glasses??

Eagle pair is what many of us buy, they cost a little more, but your eyesight is worth it.
Also good glasses let you see your focal point.

I assume you mean cheap glasses for a red laser, and not the red glasses that are common for blue/green lasers, I think you posted something about buying a medium power pen type of red laser? The glasses for red lasers will be blue, be aware that some of the cheap ones for red lasers don't work very good, but for a laser less than class 4 then they are probably good enough, some of them though will protect you when viewing the dot up close or when burning something but may not be enough to protect you from a direct hit. If you can't afford something of the quality of Eagle Pair then try the blue HDE glasses, there are some blue glasses of the same style that are cheap and have Trex printed on the corner of one lens, I have a pair of those and I don't trust them to protect from a direct hit.

Do you already have the red laser? What country do you live in?
What nm is it and what is the mW output?
Please don't go super cheap with laser safety glasses as you only have one pair of eyes and they are way to precious to gamble with.

Just beware of HDE look alikes. As I had only 1 red laser at the time at 112mw I did go for the better than nothing approach "not the best thinking but still better". I went to Fasttech.com which I had a good experience with their cheapie goggles for green lasers before. I saw a set blue glasses for red lasers that had the exact look of the HDE. They were absolute garbage and no printing on them anywhere. True HDE glasses are marked.

Well I don't remember anyone here testing those blue ones for the red lasers, but at OD4+ I would say yes it will. The most powerful red laser any of us is likely to have anytime in the near future would be a little over one watt, and that would take some time to burn the lens of the glasses and by then you would have moved out of the way. OD4 glasses will reduce the light to 1/10000th so it shouldn't do more than flash blind you momentarily giving you time to move out of the way. Notice that many of the cheap glasses don't even list an OD rating.

Survival (links for USA) has two different goggles (same price) for red lasers:

Pair A:
Eagle Pair 190-400nm & 560-640nm Laser Safety Goggles

and

Pair B:
Eagle Pair 190-400nm & 580-760nm Laser Safety Goggles

I bought an Arcane 2.0 635nm but SciFi's website says it uses a ML501P73-02 LD which according to DTR's website, the wavelength is 638nm.

I bought Pair A: and while testing the power output of the Arcane 2.0, my eyes could 'feel' the laser. At OD=4+ I was a bit surprised but then I noticed the protection band only goes to 640nm which doesn't leave much room for a 638nm laser. I also read that the OD tends to drop/taper at the band edges but the linewidth of lasers is/should be small, perhaps small enough for a 2nm spread. I decided to be safer than sorry and bought Pair B: which span 580-760nm before doing any more testing or playing. I haven't gotten Pair B: yet but will report back if I notice any difference.

Note for Pair B: there is an admonition for 589nm protection level which is why I bought Pair A in the first place since I intend to get a 589nm laser in the future.

EDIT: Pair B: arrived today. The dot on a white door inside my house is significantly brighter using Pair A: Eyes for the most part feel the same.

When people ask for cheep glasses = :lasergun:
