So i was at walmart the other night and i was in the glasses isle and i noticed all these different colored glasses. since i had my blu ray in my pocket i started shining it into them. i came across one pair that were yellow that blocked out i would say 95% of the blu ray. they were 10$ so i bought them.

Here are the pix

OK so before we get into the "cheap goggles" /rants/speeches again i am just showing you all what I came across, I am in no way telling people that these are the alternative to real protective goggles. Take it as you may.

As long as you don't focus the laser directly onto the glasses (which probably would burn a tiny hole quickly), I for one see no problem anyway. It is of course common sense to NOT shine a laser into your eyes even with protective glasses - just as you shouldn't slam your car into a wall just because you're wearing seatbelts. Hobbyists generally get "alignment" glasses that pass enough light so that you can see the dot when focusing; these seem to do the job.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but since this is not a DPSS laser, if you can barely see the output through the glasses then yeah they should serve as a quick solution for protection. I'd like to know the power of that pointer, though.
