150nm? blu-ray is 405nm, that's a HUGE difference.

But anyway, I've tested 3 different sets of goggles for red and green lasers and all of them dropped a 60mW blu-ray to less than 5mW (tested with my laser power meter). It seems any pair of goggles will work for blu-ray, it doesn't seem to like passing through anything.

Of course, since these goggles aren't certified for this kind of thing it isn't the best solution. But if you don't have any other goggles it's better than nothing :)

its 150nm - 540nm so everything inbetween is claimed to be blocked....

interesting on the glasses though...

You don't need to test them. If they are the OD 4 they are CE certified for the wavelength indicated. The others by this manufacturer are not.

my WL 532nm shades seem to block the bluray by a margin, but im yet to suffer a direct hit. its time i bought some proper UV goggles, cant take any risks.

Most goggles for green lasers block 405nm, my goggles from opto block all 405nm light, I've shined my ~90mW blu-ray through them and no light that I could see came out.

The ones from Optotronics and Nova Lasers will work just fine, they are made in the USA by NOIR; the cheap Chinese made ones from WL will not, I wouldn't trust my eyes from any wavelength using cheap Chinese made glasses marketed by WL or otherwise.  You can't go wrong with NOIR, Glendale, etc.  The safety of your eyes is not something you want to risk, you only have two of them.

Good luck, and stay safe.

I take issue with you calling the WL goggles cheap Chinese made things you wouldn't trust your eyes with. I've been dabbling in this hobby for several years now, and in that time frame I've only ever heard good about WL goggles - not to mention I've conducted various tests on WL goggles, and I own and frequently use many pairs. In fact, WL used to sell the same goggles Nova does. Perhaps they don't block UV light (I've never heard of them being rated to, so I've never tried), but they aren't the cheap Chinese crap you're portraying them as; at least not in my experience anyway (in fact, without getting to try a pair as of yet, the optotronics goggles look FAR more shoddy than anything WL sells).

Perhaps I'm wrong and they are cheap junk that cannot be trusted, but you're gunna have to post some pretty dang convincing evidence to get me to believe that! I've seen far too much to the contrary..

PS: In fact I actually consider WL lasershades safer than Nova's goggles. With the Nova goggles, its next to impossible to see the spot of the laser while using them, meaning I have to take them off to align things. What's the point of goggles for hobbyists that force you to take them off to use your laser? Naah, even though I keep many different types around, when I have the chance, the lasershades are the ones I reach for.

you dont mean the DX ones surely  ?!

so which do you recommend then guys looking for cheap but effective for both blueray and green... my WL shades (sport elite red0 are rated OD 5 for UV but stop at around 380nm?
