Pare, if you're just getting a 30mW or 50mW why not just buy one from the mall stalls? They're "sticker rated" at >100-300mW.

But to answer your question, most likely yes. There is a big chance Phil. Customs will confiscate it as I've heard that units over 1W are watched out for. This is usually the case especially if the item is shipped via EMS--don't ask me why, I don't know either. Unless, of course, you have lazerer declare it as a flashlight and have it packed up real nice and tight.

If you decide sooner or later to get higher rated units and have some extra money to spend on a completely "hassle-free" acquisition, I do recall that Johnny Air Cargo has a branch in Hong Kong. Contact JAC, let them know you plan to have something shipped from HK to PHL. Then have lazerer ship it to JAC HK. From there it'll take about a week to arrive here sans customs hassle--you just pay JAC their freight fee.

salamat, but i dont know where to buy green lasers here especially at malls??

Hmmm you've probably seen them already before but never noticed. Mall stalls where they sell motorcycle helmets, handheld tasers, back massagers, rifle scopes, LED flashlights, etc. IIRC the green lasers they sell are the "JD-XXX" brand that also come with a key switch, range from Php1,200-3,500.00 (100-300mW), come with a couple of diffusers, Li-ion battery, and charger. Of course I'm sure those don't really reach 300mW, but they did say nakakapaso, nakakaputok ng lobo (it burns skin, pops balloons). I never asked for a demo yet though.

In Makati there are sellers in Park Square 1 (in front of True Value) and in Taguig the Market! Market! fountain (only on weekends). I'll let you know if I see these guys in other places. Also try Sulit.com, there are sellers who can let you demo before purchasing.

P.S. We should totally get the Filipino lase community together since we're all most probably within a 26km radius. I think matrixcs is also Filipino?

thanks pare, actually, i thought that lasers are not so common here at the philippines, yah, i do have a laser pointer before, but just a JD-881, and found out that its just 5mW focusable cheap china, my second laser was just a cheap laser pointer pen bought from a person at sulit.

the only thing lang na natatakot ako bumili is baka kasi hindi upto spec yung lasers dito unlike sa rayfoss, o-like and lazerer na assured yung specs..

JD-881? How did you know it was 5mW? On the labels it says 200mW but I would expect at least 50mW out of it. I think that was the model the salesman told me could burn stuff.

There are a handful of sulit sellers that have 500-1W units... If they have an LPM I need to be their friend asap. :p

That's definitely a valid reason, because more often than not, the people selling them in local malls just have the specs on the box to show you and have zero additional knowledge on the units they sell.

I only heard about it but I'm not entirely sure if Phil. Customs really has blocked importation of lasers 1W and above.

i know that its just a cheap 5mW 'cause whe i bought that and compared to my friend's common 5mW laser pen (he bought that at divisoria) the pen type is a little bit brighter than mine. Yah, the label says it is 200mW but i found on some videos that you can burn stuffs on 5mW when the beam is focused..

To be sure, im gonna buy laser from rayfoss, it is definitely cheap than here, a 30mW laser pointer pen there is about $18(including the shipping) which is about 774 pesos compared to a typical 5mW green laser which is in the range of 500-1,100 pesos..

here it is: www.rayfoss.com

I think PHL Customs won't bother checking it out if it has a total value (including shipping) below $30. So you can go ahead and try it!
