As to the build, there isn't much to say. It's a very simple design; it's just sleek and black. There is no fancy detail or silly designs that make it look like something out of Star Wars. It looks as a laser should IMO. It feels very solid. It runs off 2 AAA batteries. It's got a nice little clicky on the tail cap for constant on-off use.
There is a nice clean oval dot, no splash. I'd got excellent divergence. I don't know what it is exactly, but lets just say that by the time the divergence is noticeable it's too far away to see.
The case is really nice. Not much to say about it.
Now on to the question you want answered. Can you notice a difference between 635nm and 650nm? The short answer is yes. Since this was my first 635nm laser the moment I beheld the output for the first time I immediately noticed that the color is a bit more orange-ish than the standard 650nm pointer. If you compare them you'll notice a difference. I showed my GF and she noticed the difference right away. You couldn't call it an orange laser but instead it makes 650nm look like a very deep and saturated blood red color. You'll have to take my word for it. I say that because my camera is rubbish for macro and low light. The true color is just not conveyed very well in the pics.
If you like to collect wavelengths then I'd recommend this laser. Z-Bolt shipped it within 2 business days. At about 35 bucks shipped it's kinda pricey for a 5mW red laser but it's technically an uncommon wavelength. So IMO it's worth it. My cat likes it too.
BTE-4S, Highest Power Red Laser Pointer - Constant On Switch, Foam Case, 635 nm
635nm is on the left. These pics look like crap. Trust me, you can tell them apart in person.
