WL, Decided it be funny to lie to me. G1 or a modified G1?

Wicked has decided it would be funny to send me 3 different reply (from different people) saying "We checked your order and its the G2 model we are sending you" And I get the package today, all excited, and get a G1. So, they decided to lie, and send me the wrong model.

Pros and cons with this,
Pro - I got a laser that I dont have to mess with the switch
Con - I got a laser that I didnt expect.

HOWEVER, after twisting the cap a billion times, I found the top is new?

Pictures.

Theres no Sload of greases inside the top, AND whats with this new looking black thingy? Maybe new focusing to fix the beam? IDK!
I will say these OD6 glasses, are sure looking worse than my OD4. Or is that how it works? Lower OD means lower view? My EAGLES glasses the dot is white. These it's blue.

Let alone that, I didnt even get the "Freebies extra glasses and lens pen"
Emailed them.

I will say, comparing to my 405nm glass jayrob build at 650mA, the dot is definantly brighter, and thinner.
laser tag says "Less than 1.25W"

That black thing varies per laser, it's purely aesthetic I believe. Regarding the freebies, didn't you yourself state in another thread that they said they would have to send them separately because they already had your order packaged?

Hope I get my laser some time. Havent even heard from WL since the initial order email lol. Should check if they've taken money out, otherwise order mightn't have processed. I suddenly care because my jayrob build is temporarily out of action due to the wires coming from the driver having split. I'd just resolder them, except my iron is heavily oxidised and I cant find soldering iron tips on their own lol. Wonder what driver WL is using, could try potmodding it a bit. Also depends on heatsink, know anything about that yet?

Yes but they made it sound like they were able to include them in my package and send it out Wednesday instead. Just odd I got a G1 when I NEVER requested it, and they told me MANY times I would and am getting a G1.

In a way, IF they didnt fix the beam, I'm happy. Now I dont have to deal with the smartswitch. So far, everything feels good. No little screw issues on the 2nd safety lock, everything working great, all threads are great, not one issue.

I hope this doesnt happen to anyone else expecting a G2. I dont mind, as long as they didnt fix the beam diversion.

183 inches = 0.4245"
From lens to wall = 4.1185" = 0.190"

I entered this into "pseudonomen137's JScript mRad calculator. and it said my laser is 1.3109 mRad.

Both measurements at 15.25ft and 0.343208333ft, started to smoke my door after like 3 seconds. My battery power meter says 1/3. So not bad!

Then I used his Dot diameter calculator. It said at 19ft, it will be "0.492" and at 19ft, I measured 0.4905" So, roughly close to exact. If I had the length to test this, it says 50ft will be 1.05", sadly I cant test this indoors. I'm happy at least, I got a good divergence laser! :D

Also just found WL supplys a free extra sticker for your laser if it falls off.

10 mins after I sent my email to WL support:
We are only shipping Artic G1 only at the moment, I think there maybe some issue in the sorting facilities at the shipping department.

I will forward your ticket to our supervisor to sort this out.
I told them not to worry about the laser it self, I'm happy with its performance, it had great divergence, and nothing is loose/damaged/scratched. I just told them I still need my free lens pen/cleaner kit, and my free extra glasses.

It/s the size of this laser that still bogs my mind...

Everything is big in china, ha ha, I just hope I don't have a G1 show up at my door, I won't be to happy, and I do not want to pay shipping back

Any reason why? Personally I would get sick of the mode-switching just to get to high power. I'd never use low power or pulse. So I'm happy with what I got, and I'm VERY happy with the divergence. So I'm keeping it. Nothing is loose, nothing slides around (lens), all the locks are nicely built, threads are good, no chips in the anodized metal, love it.

I've had it for a week now so I have had time to get some good one-on-one time with it :)

Mine has that little black thing as well. The divergence is fine and the beam stays tight over a long distance. No chips and it has no threading issues. It burns very well even from a distance. I've burned through cd cases, cups, and have unintentionally burned through my curtains, and my pillow (from 20+ feet). I have also lit a cig very quickly. The tobacco really absorbs the light. Overall I'm very happy with the product at this price point.

The only problem I had was with the supplied battery and charger - the charger doesn't work. I went ahead and got an ultrafire 2300ma and charger from amazon.com. This fixed the LED problem I was having. Now the battery meter works fine.

I didn't specify G1 or G2. I just got a G1 so I don't have to mess with the switching. I would have gone loony with that.
I'm guessing that the "black mushroom" in there helps round the beam by blocking some spill. No one yet knows what optics are in there.

I find the battery meter lights up and that's about all, does not seem to indicated how much is left in your battery, but only goes out when your battery is out. I thought it would have shown you how much battery power your had by the lights going down?

Battery seems, on full charge last 30 mins.

Beam at 6.5 meters is 20mm wide and 1.5-2 mm high. Up close a nice bright retangle beam, burns things well.

These are not taken by me, but by another member here, who has a Dragon Spartan 1 watt laser and his beam is exactly the same as my Arctic beam at about 21 feet away.

In honor of BP, we could call the "black mushrom" the Top Hat.
I think it just helps dissipate heat.

Gosh the batteries don't last long in the Arctic. Mine goes through them very quickly, lucky I got 4 18650 batteries, but the Arctic needs, I think very high capacity ones. Been looking on Ebay for high capacity batteries and have come accross some which are 3000mHa, so looking for ones with good capacity. Mine only last around 20 mins per charge.

Mine green DX focusable laser on 18650 lasts ages, but the Arctic is hard on the batteries. I can see now why Dragon with the Spartan series went for 2 CR123 batteries.

Here's a link to a great review of 18650 batteries. I don't know how well the longer protected cells will fit in the Artic, the supplied battery is 65mm. Some of the protected ones go over 68mm. I chose to order the Tenergy 2600 since it had a high rating and was the shortest of the protected batteries. You can find it on Amazon here.
