No, Rivem, I think that's a semi-generic Chinese host with an extended battery tube. I've seen a few other companies selling that host too, just without the extension tube.

I know it's not the exact host, but I think it might be reasonable to assume that it's at least made with similar parts. That head looks very similar, and XPL is definitely using the hosts from that Chinese supplier. Has XPL already said that the higher power lasers are also fixed focus?

I received Ricker's LPM today, and I bring good news!
I measured both lasers; the 532nm peaks at 642mW, and the 635nm peaks at 847mW. Both significantly overspec! If you need pictures I can post them, but I'm too lazy right now. :)

These really are fantastic lasers for the price. My only real complaint would be the divergence on the 635. It is SUPER divergent even for a 635 which are bad to begin with. i wonder if there's a way to fix that

I just asked them now about the current hosts being focusable. There doesn't seem to me to be a divide on the current hosts, so I'm fairly sure they're fixed focus. We can still hope!

Edit: Got a response. They said they can offer 20% off on the 2W, and it's not focusable; but they can add the focusable parts if necessary. They also said $10-20 extra which is excellent!

Wait a sec. Are they offering 1.5 and 2W in a 532nm? I keep reading that but I also keep thinking that it can't be right. The strongest ones I've ever seen in a portable were a few that hit over 1W from Jetlasers. Hard to believe that they are actually that strong. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that it isn't possible just that I've never heard of any portable being offered over 1W that wasn't just some crazy exaggerated bologna. You can certainly buy really powerful lab ones.
Where's the link to the 1.5 and 2W ones?

$1220 is definitely an amazing price on a focusable 2W 532nm DPSS handheld, but no way can I handle that.

I guess focusability can probably be added to the 1W and 1.5W too since they've got the same host.

This company has already exceeded our expectations in multiple respects.
Who is to say they can't do it again? They've proven themselves to be legitimate with LPM tests corroborated by my own personal testing. And the technology for 2W 532nm already exists, all they have to do is make it smaller.

It works CaliKirk
Thanks for posting those. I just realized that anybody interested in joining a group buy might not have an idea of what we were talking about since they aren't exactly easy to find.:p

Pman, what do you think? Would you want in? XPL does have a warranty and makes claims about their honesty, so a GB could ship to a member with an LPM to check them and return/exchange if necessary.

Maybe we should create a new thread, I'm not sure this is the right place for this discussion.

Yeah. I don't know that anybody new will come into the thread that saw it earlier. May as well. Maybe a group buy feeler or a more general thread XPL lasers as the topic. It's up to you Sta.

Edit: Guess that's post 500.

Like I was trying to say 532nm have existed for quite some time at way more than the 2W one as a lab unit. Obviously anyone buying a 1.5W will be getting a fantastic deal at that price. Looking at the host I wonder how much of it is for heat-sinking. Do they give any kind of duty cycle?
I wouldn't suggest anyone paying that much for a 2W one. It's just way too much of a premium especially for an untested product. It makes sense to try out the 1.5W one for sure though but I would carefully monitor how warm it is getting.
Don't think I'm being so harsh guys. I've been around long enough to see an awful lot of dissapointment from people buying things that promised the world but couldn't deliver. I don't want to see anyone get ripped off or disappointed for that matter. Great that the LPM verified the output. Everyone should expect to have to verify any laser at any time. It's just the way it is.
Unfortunately I won't be able to get in on any GB as I'm still awaiting my SS hearing and my wife will be done with work as a school bus driver in 1.5 weeks so the only income I'll have for about 2.5 months will not be much so we will be living off savings.
Just as many of you are I'm very curious as to what kind of pricing there will be on a unit if they add all those features. I'm confused by their answer as I don't know if they are talking about a few as in $30 or $300. Some one should see if they can get a bit more information on that.
By the way, Notice how nice a beam that you get compared to a 520nm. Some people have trouble seeing the difference between them when they are not side by side. The secret is look for the yellow tint and that's a 532nm.

Hey Sta, so does the 532nm take a pointed or flat tipped 3.7 18650 battery?
