Hey WBS,
It truly is a great laser! I have known for a long time that Dragon Lasers does make quality lasers (I own 4 of their lasers) and they are a good company to deal with. out Best of luck with your 589.

I'm in love. Great review. I need to order mine soon before I miss out on owning this wavelength affordably.

I am glad to be #2 in the party of 589nm 50mW DL Spartan owners! I have literally zero regrets.

I was very very VERY happy with the LPM readings I got. Nothing like getting an overspec laser!

Do it! You will not regret it. I don't really regret buying one sooner, because I think the long wait(3 years) made it that much more satisfying. But definitely take advantage if you can!

I may as well cuz I do have the money even if it's not in my budget I can make room and I think it's worth it. Thought it was an 80mw tho but 50 will do as its nearly as bright as a dpss green . The yellow is solid state too correct?

Edit, love your new avatar too.. beautiful dot matrix beam shot I'd rep you but it won't let me yet.

Its actually my Fan Diffraction Grating, but yeah. Being in the room with the laser while taking those photos was mind blowing. Also, my output is between 70 and 80mW mostly. Which is a lot more than I expected!

LooKS like a fan grating now that ya mention it but either way s till amazing.. congrats on your buy can't wait to get mine hopefully a month or so tops before I can order and receive it.

Well done. Though on the note of cleaning, if you keep the shutter closed it should be a moot point. Compressed air is the only way you'd want to clean these, and you should never need more than that. Don't try to take it apart.

At only (only, heh) 400$, a steady 70mW of some nice 589 sounds awful enticing. I am sure i will get one of these in the future- hopefully sooner rather than later. Maybe i will be able to organize a group buy? With how many people were in for 589's in the CNI GB until it got cancelled, I don't foresee any problems getting enough people interested. What do you all think?

Would be doable I think :) a GB on these might be interesting. Wonder if they'd insure such a large amount of them. I still want a 589 pointer at some point...

but don't forget the runtimes are pretty short on these. CNI quoted 30 seconds on the PGL-As and PGL-M, (these), and 45 seconds for the PGL-Cs.

I want one so a GB is good for me too just to let ya know the level of interest. I'm buying one soon either way I must own a 589nm

I keep picking it up and shining it around. That of course involves picking it up, unscrewing the shutter cover, unscrewing the tailcap, putting in a battery, screwing the tailcap back on, shining it around a bit, then unscrew tailcap, remove battery, rescrew tailcap, rescrew shutter cover, put it down.

I don't trust the batteries to stay in my laser. With the shutter cover on I don't know if someone bumps it because no light or led indicator. So I just keep the batteries out.

A GB for these would be great. This may be our best chance to get affordable 589's

I used to do that but then I just stopped bothering. I live alone in a pet free, child free home, so unless I have ghosts I can't see any problems. Does the Spartan have a safety lock?
