I though I'd show you the Laserbee II Deluxe 3W that came to me today at 10am Korean time.

I order this last week and it arrived (Friday). So 6 total business days. That's want I call fast intl. shipping!

What I noticed about the Laserbee II was just how well, J.Bauer Co. takes care to make sure everything is wrapped professionally. Everything looks new. LPM case is perfect. No imperfections of any kind.

I carefully unwrapped the LPM, and exposed the thermopile from the packaging. I am also wearing gloves that I use for handling, audio tubes and LD's.

I read all the documentation on the .pdf file about how to use this device.

I turned on my meter and saw that it was reading 0.0mW. Ok... this is a good sign.
I was expecting the meter to be reading background heat.... nope.

About 5 minutes later I was on my way to start my 1st measurement.
I first started with my newest laser, the 2.7W peak ~2.4W 455nm laser.

Measures, 2687mW pk. 2410mW av. PERFECT! Well within the confines stated by RHD!

: One point of caution, DON'T TOUCH THE ENTER BUTTON. Careful when putting the battery. Enter will exit the measurement program 0mW 0MX and into calibration and diagnostic mode.

FINAL WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE THERMOPILE WITH ANYTHING. scratching the surface of the thermopile will throw off the calibration. It will make any measurement skewed.

This is an excellent meter. Pure professionalism and Canadienne made and manufactured. Nothing like buying local...from home that is.

: One point of caution, be careful when turning off the backlight. You may trip the calibration mode if you hold enter button down too long.. YOU DON'T want to screw up the calibration.
I managed, with some difficulty to get out of this option.

Thanks for doing a Review of your new 3.2W Deluxe LaserBee II...

As to your concerns...

In the User Instructions on Page #2 it states to use the UP and
DOWN buttons for 5 seconds to turn the LCD Backlight ON and
OFF. Nowhere does it mention to press the ENTER button.

In the User Instructions on Page #5 it states the procedure to
get into the Calibration Mode by only pressing the ENTER button
for at least 15 seconds...

It also states that if you are in the Calibration Mode you can get
out of the Calibration mode by removing power and re-booting
the LaserBee.

ah. thanks
Actually I tripped the calibration, when putting in the battery.
Now everything is explained.

Thank you. I'll highlight that little bit of info.

LPM is working fine.

These pictures show the splash screen

J BAUER then the program ID number.

This is how it looked before my foray into the calibration setting.

I reset the meter. Peace in the world now.

I thought about one thing that I might improve on in the LaserBee II meter.
Many computers lack the ability to take the mini-CDs now. I may suggest moving to a downloadable driver or a mini-USB stick.
Also, a USB out would be nice too, with a Macintosh data acquisition program.
Also, there are a few products now that directly interface with iOS 5.1... possibility? Maybe a few of us could design a data acquisition app for iOS for this already excellent product?

Again, the product is well built and these are merely suggestions. These are not to be taken as criticisms in any way.
There is so much potential here for even more developments.

For LaserBee LPM customers that do not have an optical
drive to read their CD we can send a Zipped copy of the
required files. We've been ding that for about 8 months
now. There have not been many requests..

We opted for the RS-232 out with a supplied USB Converter
cable for those customers (like ourselves) that use an older
cheap Laptop that does not have USB connectivity but only
a Serial Port. This way the LaserBee Products can be connected
to a Serial Port as well as a USB Port.

We are not MAC literate and really don't have the resources
to get into developing a MAC version of the EagleEye software.
There just is not enough demand for a MAC version to justify
the high expense to go that route.

I've heard it say that you can install something on a MAC to
allow running Windows application...

I just saw your 2nd Splash Screen............ PM Sent..
