Hey guys !

Recieved the IR laser that romeo sent out to me to review today. So I'll start with a video !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBlbAvdiBmY&feature=channel_page

The laser is model JS-001, with KEY security - CR123 battery (INCLUDED WITH CHARGER )

It's a really nice laser, it feels great in your hand , feels well made. It has a key switch which is a great plus for a laser like this, the key cannot be removed in the on position, which stops you from accidentally leaving it on. It's also focusable which is a handy little feature. It takes CR123As which is a nice plus, since they last a while.

One thing I don't like about it is the lack of warning labels, it only has one label which says "808nm 1000mW" .

Now to the power ! The laser is doing 951mW peak, and then it gradually goes down to about 945mW where it settles. This measurement was however taken with USED batteries, so I imagine that it will do better with freshly charged batteries. this measurement was taken on my LaserBee I.

excuse the bad quality !

This laser burns like a champ, especially when you focus it very close to the aperture !

It's also very bright to the camera, however it looks like around 0.5mW of red at 650nm to the eye.

Overall It's a great laser, I actually plan to get one when some money comes along ! :D
The only suggestion I have for this laser is to add WARNING LABELS ! other than that it's very good overall!

Hope you enjoyed my review :D

Regards,

Adam

Took a new reading with batteries charged to 4V ( can go to 4.2V ) the reading is 969mW PEAK with batteries at 4V, I will charge the batteries to 4.2V and see how much the reading increases.

Regards,

Adam

EDIT: I think Romeo wanted me to test burning distance, so I'll do that later. Need to go down to the shop and buy some matches :D

EDIT: Just so everyone knows, I should have a review of a CNI 55mW pen up in the next few days, as well as a romisen L-D030 and an Aixiz 635nm 10mW module.

Sure do then, I'll fire up the fogger. It's kinda hard to get a good beam pic though, since my camera isn't good. But I'll try :)

EDIT: BEAMSHOTZ !

Hey Diachi the review is good, but I have one question:
How do you focus the laser?
And also, you mention about having to have the key in to turn it on, but is there any other switch?

Hey Jimmy,
On the end of the laser is a ring that u turn to focus the lens. Once you turn the key ON, you then need to push the button on the laser to turn the lsaer on.

If you have seen the 200mW focusable green from DX it is similar to that. There is a ring in the middle of the head which turns ,the front of the head can screw off and the ring that turns is behind that bit.

The whole head is identical to the DX 200mW focusable , minus the crystal set.

Adam
