The laser has a number inside the tube for batteries (printed in paper, pasted on the tube).

I'm seeing no other information of an ascention # on the laser itself or the packaging. It literally only came with the graph paperwise.

They never indicated that the lasers were going to be fda registered only fda compliant.

One can NOT be biased with quantitative data like this. It works at rated power, there's no question there.

Other questions I would pose, however, are what is the lifetime - claimed and actual? What is the battery life - claimed and actual? For what percentage of the "battery life" will it still attain rated power? And perhaps most importantly, how consistent would these results be? This review means nothings if they simply gave you the best one of the batch, which seems to be what they've done in the past.

I agree completely cyparagon. The initial tests of the laser do indicate a good laser. However it's only the beginning and is only a small sample of all the lasers in this line. Wicked didn't produce 100% crap lasers prior to this. There are a lot of very satisfied customers yet there are also a lot of customers that got lasers that were underrated or had significant issues (most notable the pulsar that required a mod to improve electrical connection) I have no experience of these things so can't speak on them and they don't weigh into my review of this particular laser. I know that it's common practice for a company to send out the Creme da le crop for review lasers and I'd really like to see that this is not the case with this line. Only time will tell.

I will continue to report on anything that happens to and with this laser in the future that will be relevant for people to know.

Nice detailed and unbiased review Ken.. IMO.....

As I've already posted on 2 other WL Laser Review threads...
Some people just can't swallow the fact that they were not chosen
to do a review by WL... so they question the ethics of the Reviewer...

Getting a little :tired: of seeing the same "trash" on all the review threads.

What did you use for a target? I need to know so I can measure mine. I intend to use the bright center dot but like you, I will have to use the calipers the same way. Should I paint the caliper jaws flat black?
I'm afraid that some here are looking at biased results. Guys, This is science and I for one can not be bought off. I think Kenom feels the same. Please don't make accusations against those of us doing the tests. We do our best without a million dollars of super test equipment.

Steve told me the sticker on the inside of the battery compartment is the accession number, and that they are approved for resale in the U.S.

Edit: Looking back at my PM's, he did not say that the sticker was the accession number. I guess I just assumed that it was. But he did say that it has an accession number, and that it is approved for resale in the U.S.

My take on this move by WL, as I mentioned in my review thread, is that it seems to be a statement of promised quality...

If a company makes a loud statement in this way, and then does not follow up with reliable service and products, then it is a waste of their efforts. This seems to say, that WL is making a run for their longevity, and is going to be watching quality control in order to regain any lost confidence. (just an opinion)

Unless I misunderstood what FrothyChimp wrote the Ascension number is a part of the FDA compliance so, it would be assigned, although maybe not provided to us at this time. -Glenn

The fact that the accession number is not on the laser is noncompliant to begin with.

You should call the FDA to see if the accession number is valid for the actual model of laser that you purchased. Wicked was on the FDA import alert list for a long time and I have trouble believing that the FDA was willing to bend over backwards to change the regulations just for WL.

Hey Glenn, the accession number on Laserglow products is found on the danger label. It would look like 0322677-04 or similar. Certain products are covered with a blanket accession number while others have more specific numbers.

Yup and that is what is printed inside the barrel. Not a serial #. Now you'll notice paragraph 4, that it doesn't mean they've gotten approval, just that they've submitted

Yeah I saw that.... and I also saw the number covers 4 models of lasers...

What is confusing.. is that they (FDA) are still giving a schedule for submitting an
Annual Report to the CDRH... as if the accession number is in effect..:thinking:

Nice review Ken :)

I'll just jump in here and say some people have found that their batteries wobble around in the barrel. This is true, but can be easily fixed with a piece of paper in the barrel. HOWEVER, I had a pair of rechargeables that wouldn't fit in the barrel at all! It may not be the laser's problem, the batteries could also be off-sized slightly.

Lasers, maybe 10 or so made a day.
Batteries, couple of hundred thousand per day.

Heaps of batteries could come out off-sized if they weren't QC'ed properly.
