BTW.. guess what... the 500RGB SKU:A0879000JL is now specified with 5K scanners:mad:.. when i bought the 500RGB SKU:A0879000JL it was specified 10K:thinking::mad:

RRRRrrrr:mad:

Doc

the 500 RGB was always listed as 5k on the DD site. Reke says it's 10k. And it's definitely faster than 5.

You could get any show card off eBay if you want a proper ILDA port.. I believe you should be able to jump the laser drivers and galvos directly into your DAC and it should work as well.

Those discount numbers are all BS. Anyway enjoy the projector.
I was in doubt about those, haha. But still a good price to get a cheap RGB projector to experiment with beamshows.

Cant wait for it to arrive!
Now I just need a cheap DMX controller :)

it's a good laser for the price.

You can get an open DMX controller for like $60 + shipping. I have the GUS electronics DMX controller at home and the FB3 ILDA controller.

Sounds good! Though Im using a Macbook, so should find one that works on Mac, or buy a seperate controller.

I bought a DMX controller and then recently bought the little Ishow ILDA controller.

I know people say ishow is a crap.. but i paid it 85$ shipped from a new ebay seller and i'm really satisfied.. I played with it yesyerday and the ILDA file database is really impressive! ( include few show of 20Mb and more) and it worth it just for these ILDA files so... while waiting to get a better dac and controller it's good for me.. at least to begin in ILDA drawing ...

The USB-DMX controller is also cool.. i paid it 50$ with freestyler, but you get bored after few hours of playing with always the same included pictures and animations of the RGB-500... It just let you to control the actual animations so...

I copied alot of the ILDA file FTP database of the Photolexicon forum and it's really cool stuff.

Now what i regret is to have bought two cheap 260$ projectors instead of one better like 30K galvo and 1W or so....

but i'll take best parth of those and make one better. and might change the galvo for some 30 or 40K..

I still really like my Reke RGB-500... but the Ruby L-85 ( 500RGB) i also have is pretty cool with the faster galvo ( 20K) and the more powerfull lasers and 635nm red appear more intense than the 650 or 660 of the reke 500rgb

Sounds good, I did the same thing... I started with DMX and moved to ILDA.

I heard some bad things about iShows stuff but yeah it works for the most part.. Apparently it's supposed to preform better with Spaghetti but don't hold me to that.

I don't think you could have got a single really good projector for $600 shipped though... To get good quality stuff you need to drop like $1000 or more on a unit. I am sure there are some cheap Chinese units that are a little better for that price range but probably wouldn't preform to your expectations. I know people who have bought $600 PJs and got not a lot more than the Reke.. Maybe you can connect your iShow DAC direftly to your Ruby projector with the 20k galvos.. Though I have heard from a 20k GB that they still don't cut it for graphics...

You could always make your own case and use the Reke show card and optics with the lasers and galvos from the Ruby....

DUMB QUESTION ----
I have a REKE 500RGB projo --- nice machine

BUT -- Until I finish my ILDA driver, is there a chip which will give better sound driven scans? What's in there is a bit hokey...............

A sound card with an amp is your best shot....I don't think a sound card on it's own will really give enough output to drive the galvos decently.

As I don't own one of those, do you mean where it is more sensitive to audio, or just that the patterns look idiotic like the ones my now-in-pieces Reke Mini-10RGB used to produce?

If the former, you could amplify the audio with an op-amp.

Audio drive isn't a problem. The "chip" has the worst scan library
that I can imagine. My Lanling is nice with music input but
This Reke chip is hoooohummmm yuppie .....

Yeah, that's why I had absolutely no qualms about taking apart that projector. Even if the projector had perfect galvos I would never want to use any of those ridiculous scribbles. Better in parts than watching that crap.

I don't think I can really get a proper ILDA test frame pic... The scanners are too slow...

I think if you take some pics of the built in stuff that's more what people want... People who are buying $200 projectors don't care about ILDA test frames, they care about "oooh shiny".

You can even embed a few of my videos if you want.
