Review on Firedragon 532nm 450mw Flashlight Style Elite Green Laser "RPL style"
Hey All,
Review on:
Firedragon 532nm 450mw Flashlight Style Laser.

Firedragon-
So I picked this up because i wanted a high power green laser and wanted to give
First thing i will talk about is the shipping. From time of paying to receiving was 13 days including weekends. Not bad. Came EMS and I only payed 2$ extra. So i was able to track it all the way to me. Very Happy with that. The laser came packaged OK and nothing broken.
The laser is Nice Quality i must say. There is a Nice anodizing on the body and not 1 scratch or imperfection on it. Its feels very comfortable in your hand and well balanced. The Laser runs off of 1x 18650 3.7v "4.2v when fully charged" and is a Case + "Positive" laser. Which means the + of the battery goes toward the tail cap and the - goes in toward the head and switch of the laser.
The Laser In Not Focusable and comes with a Aperture Shutter. Which IMO I like. I dont do burning so i prefer fixed focus most of the time. However at this power its still a great burner. Doing all the fun stuff like popping balloons or lighting a Match and cutting stuff is very easy to do. You can simply place a Loop or a magnify Glass in front of the beam and will give you a nice burning point.
It has a Constant on/off Switch but if you lightly tap it, then its Momentary. The laser comes with a key Safety Lock and without turning the lock into the on position the laser ill not turn on. When you turn the laser into the on potion right away a blue LED lights up by the switch and you are in Idle mode. Now the laser is armed and by pressing the on/off switch the laser will come on. The Blue light will stay on aswell when the laser is on. The Blue light IMO Is not too bright but just a tab higher then i would have prefer it. But thats no Biggie and iam just being picky.
Now what is Bright is this Laser. I was blown away how bright it is. Iam Unsure if this laser is IR filtered as I do Not see one as far as i can break down the laser before i start unscrewing optics and I refuse to do so a void the warranty. What gets me though is the little IR leaking out. When I say little i mean little. "Look at IR Filter LPM test Video Bellow for results" When i seen that this laser is Pretty much Pure Green Power and basically No IR that just made my Night. I was that much happier.
The laser is pulling 2.4A to 2.6A at the tail cap with a Sanyo 2600mah cell.
The laser beam comes out Perfectly Straight on this laser and its not slight off like i hear and personally experienced with cheaper laser. Also Un like one of the other fire dragon laser out there this beam is not wide at all. So Iam Happy with this. The Optics do appear to be a much better quality then your average cheap green module in the brass housing. This Module in the laser which you will see bellow in pictures is much different and much larger design then what you normally see in cheap Green lasers.
I was also surprised to see this laser was Over Spec. Its not a Peak over spec then quick drops down to 450mW or bellow. However it does Peak 1 time during each Duty cycle pretty high then drops after about 10 seconds to still an over spec power. "Please Look at LPM video bellow for Results"
This laser stay within"TEM00 and TEM01" Which iam happy with. Your not going to find a High power Green Laser that stays in TEM00 all the time. Very Rare.
So with all that said Here are some Pictures and videos i took of the laser.
Pictures:
Packaging.
Package Nicely.
From Left to Right:

Final Thoughts:
This is a Great laser and is very very bright. It is over spec and holds it pretty well. The laser body has no dings or scratch on it and the threads are very very nice and tight.
There is Little to NO IR in the output but ther still is some. ~25mW.
The only thing that i found wrong with this laser was the aperture shutter was a little loose. But all i did was tighten the screws and all was good.
Iam very happy with this laser and with my whole purchase from LaserMan.com aka DinoDirrect laser site.
Hope this Review will help you decide if this laser is right for you.
:thanks: For Looking.!!!
Keep on Lazing.....
