The reason why I bought this is that I never saw an IR before and I wanted to test the 532nm&IR blocking goggles I got from JETLASERS some time ago. Laser was bought from DINODIRECT here.

THE LASER
I paid $45total incl PP fees. The laser came in a nice silver metal case, doesn´t look near as cheap as the newish pen cases. Included are two AAA batts and a key. This laser has a key lock as a safety feature. Good idea, it´s quite dangerous at this power. A blue LED shows when the key is in ON-position and the power button is pressed.

SHIPPING
The whole process from ordering to the receive took 18days. The laser came in a nice case without any scratches on the host or the case.

POWER
Power was guaranteed to be >400mW. Average power is between 405mW, peak at 410mW - better with more VOLTS (see vid below).

PICS

The laser in the box next to two AAA batteries and a key to unlock the laser

Taken a few minutes after the first pic - with JETLASERS goggles in the background (great for this WL)

Beam with background light and some water particles in the air

Beam on magnesium, some water particles in the air

VIDS
Can be watched in 720p.

Teasing it with 1x AAA + 1x 10440 batteries

Making 808nm visible with magnesium

Résumé
If you´re looking for a good quality cheap IR laser, this is the one to go!

"best for lecturers and teachers" , id love to be in that class! "and here we see why X =Y . . . .ah, does anyone have a fire extinguisher"

Thank you for the review.

The reason why I bought this is that I never saw an IR before
I will also admit that I have never seen IR before, and I doubt I ever will unless I develop super-powers. ;)

Crap... that is scary. I'm very much for the laser hobby, but products like that make me worried.

Pretty cool though, nice review:beer:

So it's just a green pen where the crystals fell off?:shhh:
Oh, and a key.
Does your digital camera capture the light?
Can I haz beamshot?

Thanks.

Hey, a green DPSS laser is a true 808nm too, once you ditch the crystal pair....

I guess it would, I was just teasing you.:na:
The cheap greenies have a, what, 400mW 500mW pump diode inside them?
Yours seems to be a bit stronger than that.

WOOOOO videos in 750p !

Nice laser tho! Thanks for taking the plunge. I would like to see how long this lasts. But defiantly looks good quality.

Sorry just 720p

From what I´ve seen yet, it´s has the best quality except the CNI and some DIY lasers I have.

Edit: Added some shots

Great. Now I not only have to get one of these, I've got to get another pair of goggles as well! :)

What are you using to get a total of 5V, a 14500 + a AA primary together?

NM: I see that's is indeed what you did. (Well AAA, instead of AA)

How bright is the indicator light?

Very Nice buy and Review. Ive never seen that host before. As well as an 808nm laser on a site like DD.:)

With the 10440 cell i was shocked to see the power of it. Iam wondering what Rated diode the actually are using 300mW.? No Way. 500mW.? Could be 1W .? Who knows.

I really like this laser for the key feature on the back. This is a great add on and i think a must have on any IR type laser.
