This is my first review so please leave helpful comments to me for further reviews.

I ordered my 405nm 300mw FLX laser on 7/12/11. It arrived 7/19/11. I had asked Faona a lot of question before buying it because I was a newbie back then.

It came in a red box. When I got it- there were two packages- one big one and then a smaller one wrapped in plastic really good inside it. Apparantly customs got into it. They cut both open, but only taped back the big package.

Here are some pics

I really like the host- it has a good feel. It has a click switch on the tailcap. It runs by 1x18650 battery. It is REALLY good at burning.
Lighting a match

POPPING Balloons

With the lights on and off

Cutting Electrical tape and lighting a fuse to a firework

Thanks for reading my review and please give me some helpful advice!

Question ; In your 2nd video (murdering the happy balloons), you have duct tape wrapped around the end of the laser. Is it getting really hot or something?

=====

Nice videos. My reaction = holy $h!t.

I knew that my next 2 lasers were going to be from Survival Lasers, the 405 and the 445, but I was not completely decided as to which one to get next. (I have to spread the purchases out by a month or more).

I realize that your Rayfoss might be overspec.

But the Survival Lasers 405 is rated at 500mW +/- 50mW, and I intend to get a Jayrob 405-G-1 lens for both of them (jayrob for price, but also because of the recessed design allowing a lens spring).

If a ~300mw 405 can do THAT...

Burning isn't the first priority; for the 405 I want to experiment with fluorescence. Otherwise I would get the 445 for beam visibility.

No- I wrapped duct tape around it because I can't get the cap to stay on. I tried and tried- I'm going to ask faona about the threads. I'm using a battery that I got from amazon- so that might be why. How much arethe g1 lens and do you think they will fit my laser?

About the G-1 lens; I am not an expert. Just a n00b with some experience. I don't know if you could re-engineer your Rayfoss for it. PROBABLY not; maybe an expert at DIY projects could.

EDIT: Actually I am not completely sure about using a G1 lens for my next 2 lasers. I don't "think" I need a little extra power, and I might prefer the cleaner beam (?) of the default glass lenses that come with them.

for some reason- now the tailcap screws on now- I guess I just had to work with it!
