I got my laser today from RA_Pierce and he asked me if I would write a review about it... so here goes... keep in mind it would be the first review i write.

Dealing with RA_Pierce was a pleasure, he was always helpful and prompt when answering PMs.

(Sorry for the bad pics... my camera broke so I'm using my cellphone)

The laser was packed very well, it came with a small manual with operating and care instructions, a small bag of fluorescent goodies, a UV light, a prism, and a bit of flash paper.

215mW 405nm laser

The laser is very well built, feels sturdy with no rattling. The focusing mechanism is pretty easy to focus.

The beam is visible in complete darkness. The dot is oval shaped because of the Hi-Power lens, I can see what looks like a rectangle of light under the dot when perfectly focused both with and without goggles. (Any ideas what that is?)

As far as burning, Ive only popped a balloon from 6 ft away in less than 1s, (I need to go buy a box of matches to see if I can light them)

So far, I love the laser.

Hey there, SilentJ. I forgot to reply to this review.

To answer your question, the "rectangle of light" under the beam is an artifact from the diode and lens.
It is present in all violet lasers I have built using the 405-G-1 lens. I'm not sure if it shows up with reds.

Once I finished assembling it, I almost didn't want to let it go! If I had a few more of those grey pen hosts I would build another for myself with an 8X. ~300mW in one of these would be sweeet!

I hope you are still enjoying it.
Thanks for the review!

Also, I thought I'd attach some of my own pictures of this laser since your camera broke... If you don't mind. :D

These images of the assembly were taken by me for SilentJ upon request.
