Link to product page: Ultra High Power 532nm Focusable Mid-Open Green Laser Pointer Pen(2*AAA Included) (Please note that the page returns an "Item not found" error UNLESS you're logged into your PriceAngels account.)
I ordered this laser not expecting anything terribly impressive, but the $40 price tag seemed encouraging but not too expensive. What I got was worth every penny, and more.
I don't have a LPM, but I do have an O-Like 200mw 532nm diode that I purchased about 6 months ago to compare this laser to, and it, surprisingly, surpasses the O-Like module. While the O-Like one has to "heat up," going from approximately 65% brightness and hitting full power at around 10 seconds, the O-like starts off slightly brighter than the maximum from the O-Like.
The host is not your average pen-style one either. It is noticeably heavier than any other pen laser I've held, and the threading on the battery compartment is extremely smooth and well-machined. While this doesn't effect power, it does feel very good in the hand.
This laser is also focusable, and is able to cut through thin, dark plastics with relative ease. You can also remove the focusing cap entirely, making the laser produce a "floodlight" rather than a beam, which is sorta neat. It has one minor flaw, and that is some slight splashing outside the dot, producing a thin line across the middle and extending about 2 degrees on either side of the dot. No biggie though, and I've ordered a second unit to see if this is a common flaw.
BOTTOM LINE: It's a cheap Chinese knockoff that looks, feels, and (IMO) functions like an expensive model, all for $40. Go buy one, you won't be disappointed!
Beam shots to come soon!
