The FedEx guy got to see me shirtless, with puffy hair and eyes wide shut, looking like I just finished 3 bottles of tequila stumbling as I'm trying to open the door anxiously at 9:10AM Sharp!

My point is? ... THEY GOT HERE!! ;D ;D

THESE THINGS KICK @$$...

Let me put up some pictures and show you guys how this goes...

Obviously they came in a FedEx envelope, got help up in customs for a few days, I had to fill out a few forms and call China to make sure they filled the forms as I did otherwise they would have never made it through... Inside that familiar envelope is something much more appealing to me than orange and purple ;)

This is the nice little package that these babies came cuddled in:

With that pink bubble wrapper torn off like a Christmas wrapper... I was left with a nicely packed and sealed package that has the diodes in there:

Look at the back of it... ;D (Just creating excitement :p)

Now... the sealing static wrapper was cut off... and I was left with a package that includes the little pockets and the cover TWO diodes included :D :D

This is the picture you've all been waiting for... yes... they're here... and they are AWESOME!!

Now... I've done some testing and I've hooked this thing up to power (EXTREMELY regulated) and powered it up... and I can say, without a doubt in my mind, that I have never seen a pattern so beautiful or perfect! It's flawless! Pictures do not do it justice, and these are very well worth the money paid for them!

Here are a couple of shots of the beam pattern these generate:

The beam is nice and clearly visible in a low-light room. It's bright and immediately floods the room with red... much much more so than with the GB diodes. I had these running at about 175mA and they kick @$$!! At 300mA they were on for nearly a minute before the AixiZ module even began to get warm. :D :D

Next tests up:
  • Output power measurements... I will generate a graph showing Po Vs. Iin :D (courtesy of SenKat's Power meter ;))
  • Active cooling test and how it affects output power

Coming media:
  • Beam shots
  • Burn tests
  • Pop tests
  • More pictures of the diode (they were immediately fitted into an AixiZ module for the diode's protection)
  • Open to suggestions ;)

Thank you all for your kind participations and for you patience with me. This thread will be updated very soon and as soon as more data shows up. I expect these to ship out to their rightful owners (names not drawn up yet) as soon as I get all the data and pictures taken. Congratulations to the winner(s) in advance. You will be very pleased with these I promise! :D

Regards;
DDL

Quick question...how does the brightness of the beam compare to the GB diodes when the mw output is the same. As I recall the GB diodes are closer to 660nm and these are rated at 650nm....? Thanks Daedal...so far it does look like a winner.

This is much brighter... MUCH, MUCH, brighter.

With a GB diode I would have to look for the beam at about 150mA current, with these... the beam is clearly visible! :D

<--- This one here forgot to factor in one of the resistances in his measurements for current. They are now updated to the correct values.

One miner thing to consider...the LPM-1 is set to measure 660nm.....so there will be a difference when measuring 650nm...but I really don't know how you would figure out what the difference is....

Looks great, whats the $$$ for these and how high a mw or ma/v are they rated at? *is still too much of a nOOb @ circuits to buy diodes over $20 each*

These lased at 2.5V on the nose! With a circuit as the one I described in the Mods and Exp. section these would be a fairly easy setup :)

I didn't actually drink the tequila... I was stumbling because the blinds were all closed and I had a very late night last night ;)

I meant that now that these diodes finally arrived..you WON'T be getting much sleep for the forseeable future!...hehehe

I believe the Price we were looking at was starting at 50 bucks a diode..with the potential of 40bucks if the Qty bought was high enough.

Is that correct Dae???

I want to be accurate on that part.

Anyway..they got here..and they do exist.....That alone is a HUGE plus....

THis is awesome!

Agreed Larry... ;D

I will check with them again now that I have the diodes to try and drive the price down as much as possible. I doubt they'd be willing to do that, but if they do... that'd be sweet! Shipping them to you guys will be pretty cheap and so the price will be very competitive. Although, I highly doubt they'll end up being under $40. :-[

On the other hand... these are very much worth it... VERY much worth it. They're nice powerful diodes. I can't think of anything bad about them. The supplier's shipping was very robust and the only delay was through customs.

I'll keep updating this as more and more stuff show up :)
