Battery Run Time:For the duty Cycles and what this kind of laser is, It's not the laser your going to use everyday so usually you'll top off a battery ever time your going use it. So The run time for battery life is fine.

Personal Duty Cycle:I wont use it more than 30 seconds top

I purchased one of these a while back.
At first I ordered a PGL-III-M 80mW but that one malfunctioned.
I sent it back and got a PGL-III-C 80mW instead.
That one peaked above 170mW. I ended up selling it.

With high power DPSS, you are much more likely to get stability issues.
473nm is particularly temperature sensitive.

I'm Hopeful CNI will want to replace it. I know Phoenix77 Took Perfect Care of It and So It would be nice if CNI backed up there Product and I get the >80mW Unit I Thought I was Buying... They should want to Fix This Review so i can Update it to write the REAL Review of a 80 mW unit that they Sold to My Friend Phoenix77.


EDIT: Would you advise me to do anything to help? I put a Fan on it for like 10 min and then ran it and got 10 mW more out of it.

So was this sold to rob as a 80mW unit? Because if so, that's pretty messed up. Ther is a big difference in price between 40 and 80mW 473nm units, we all know that. Would be nice to get either the 3 or 400 dollars back, or the real 80mW unit.

Have you talked to cni yet?

Did it ever perform above >40mW? Was it verified at >80mW when purchased from CNI?
I think that the problem should have been sorted BEFORE it was sold.

Anyway, try talking to CNI. In my personal experience, when I had issues, I got a replacement quickly and it turned out in my favor.
Let them know of your situation. They might just hook you up with something like what I got:

Oh man, that was painful to read. Since when did 'let's-shit-on-the-font-and-size-buttons' approach cut it?

In any case, if it hasn't been brought to your attention already, CNI uses blanket labelling for their stickers. Often it's by wavelength range (i.e. in this case it'd be 450-490nm or so), up to a given power.

All the green PGL-III-Cs up to 500mW have a <500mW sticker. Does that mean they all do 500mW? No. They used to use one sticker for everything 400-600nm. Does that mean they're all suddenly broadband tunable lasers? No.

If the sticker says <80mW, but it was sold as a 40mW laser, then it's probably a 40mW laser, not a 80mW one.

If the wide wavelength range didn't give it away, I'm sure the fact that it was sold at 40mW would have.

I thought that wasn't hard to work out.
