This is a quick review on the new O-like safety goggles for green and blue lasers.

They are 20$ and can be bought here: 405nm,473nm,532nm laser safety goggles [OLGLG532] - $19.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

O-like claim these are rated OD 5+, which means they should bring 100mW of green light down to 0.001 mW.
They are actually a little denser than OD 2. I metered my 200+ mW green module after the goggles, and it read 1.2 mW.

I have not yet tried blu-ray or 445nm, but I will once my XJ-130 diode arrive.

Dot (or lack of dot) after a good pair of focal price goggles for comparison:

(Yup, a $8 pair of goggles easily beat a $20 pair)

This is how the goggles look like:

(They are not dirty, it's because of the camera flash)

Thanks for the review!:thanks: I ordered the same goggles, and it appears as if I'm viewing a 5mW laser with my 100mW laser while I'm wearing them. I have tried the cheap ones from FP, and I have to say that the dot is not even visible on some objects, and if it is visible it appears a dim yellow.

I bought a couple pair of these recently. My take: you get what you pay for.

For the price, they seems to work reasonably well, and aren't terribly uncomfortable to wear. The construction feels cheap, rather reminiscent of the $5 sunglasses I wore as a kid.

Personally, I have two real complaints:
  1. Too much passes through - I've not tested to see just how much light is actually making it through, but it's certainly more than I would like, and clearly more than what should be passed if these were really OD5. They are useful for low power units, but nothing serious.
  2. Reflective - These glasses are reflective, meaning if a beam hits the surface of the lens it bounces off almost like hitting a mirror. This should be kept in mind while working on a laser if you have a spare pair lying nearby.

I'll be buying a couple pair from Laserglow soon for tasks these aren't suited for.

Agreed, link plz

Be advised they ship "naked" in a bubble-pack padded envelope, and a fair number arrive crushed or broken. Also, while they're physically identical, sometimes other plastic/dye or whatever gets used and some lots have different OD's. Also, they take several weeks to a few months to arrive for whatever reason.

For the price, I'd take a chance on them, as spares, or backup though. I ordered a pair a few weeks ago and am still waiting on them.

I bought a pair of O-like's glasses anyway. IMO, glasses that work so well you can't see the dot might be just as dangerous as ones that are too weak. You could forget the laser's on, not know where you're aiming it, or remove them with no idea if you're being illuminated in the face or not.

If anyone's got a laser meter and can calculate an OD for 532 with the O-Like glasses, that would be great.

The focalprice goggles are unreliable. You might get a good pair, like I did. But you might also get a very bad pair. I do not reccommend them even though mine happened to work nicely.
