400mW blu-ray 405nm laser torch /adjustable/waterproof [OL-405T-400] - $102.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products
When I bought it, it was $95 + $5 shipping. Now before shipping, it is $102.99.
The laser arrived on Saturday, January 15th but since I was not home at the time to sign for it, I had to wait until today (Tuesday, January 18th) to get it. I ordered it December 26th. Rest of the tracking info is shown below:
2011-01-19_2126.jpg

Specifications:
Model: OL-405T-400
Wavelength: 405nm
Output Power: 350mW-400mW (Susie tested mine to be no less than 360mW)
Lens: Glass
Input Power: 3.6v or 3.7v. I tested mine with a CEN-TECH DMM and the driver pulls a steady 550mA from the battery.
Duty Cycle: 60 seconds on, 20-30 seconds off
Size: 26mm (dia) x 135mm (L)
Weight: W/battery; about 4.75oz-4.9oz. W/out battery; about 3oz.
Diode: From a 12x Blu-ray Disc Burner. I believe same diode that O-like sells in the sled.
Dot Shape: Definitely an oval when focused to infinity. If unfocused, the dot looks round.
Underwater: Susie said it should be able to go underwater about 1-2 meters.
Battery: One 18650 (included and comes charged and with a charger). It looks like their 2200mAh battery that comes with a charger: which just so happens to look like the one that came with the laser. See post #18 for the link to the batteries I purchased separately.
Charger: Pretty cheap. I bought two 2400mAh Ultrafire protected 18650 batteries on eBay and they fit in the charger perfectly. The light at the bottom stays on while it is charging and begins flashing when it is almost done charging. When it is done, the light is a solid green.
Battery Life: Depends on battery: but with the 2400mAh protected Ultrafire batteries I've purchased, I have been using one of the two that I bought since the laser arrived and it is still going strong. I'm going to assume it will last more than 3 hours.
Size comparisons to my hand, post-it notes, a sharpie, and a cheap eBay green laser pen.

All of my pictures are on photobucket to save time uploading. I have posted what I think are the best in this review.
I also have all the pictures posted on flickr where you can view them much larger or download them in their full size (14.1 megapixels: 4320 x 3240).

I ordered the laser on Dec 26th and it arrived (even though I wasn't home) on Saturday, Jan 15th: 20 days total shipped to Cincinnati, Ohio. I would consider that pretty good considering it was the holidays and being shipped over new years.

The laser came in a hard-cardboard black box with an 18650 rechargeable li-ion battery, and charger. The battery is flat on both ends with no wording or positive/negative markings. The positive side has a black ring around the metal contact: I can upload pics of the positive and negative ends if someone wants me to. It is not protected but it did come charged. I was very surprised at how large it was because I have never had an 18650 battery before today.

The host is black (O-like's pictures show it to be somewhat gray). It feels high quality but the black is worn off in a couple very small places: I can add pics if you want. It is barely noticeable.
The battery cap threads feel smooth and do not squeak. It becomes much more difficult to tighten when it gets to the o-ring but that is expected. It feels sturdy and high quality in your hand.
Please note: as it has a small spring for both the negative and positive battery contacts, the battery does rattle around a little side to side. You can fix it if you use a protected battery because it is pressed in with more force since it is slightly longer than the included battery. My guess is that you could add a layer or two of electrical tape inside the battery compartment in order to stop the rattling with a non-protected battery.

The focus is also smooth but it is very stiff. There is no way it will become unfocused by accident. I'm guessing this is a side-effect of it being waterproof. I personally like how stiff it is although some might consider it too tight.
The lens has a very small amount of splash right next to the dot up close but it really isn't noticeable because when it is that close you should be wearing safety glasses.

I am guessing it comes apart right above the grooved hand grip but I am not going to try this because I want it to remain waterproof.

The black rear reverse-clicky switch isn't super easy to press but it also isn't super hard: it doesn't feel like it will leak any water. It is black and has a good, solid click and feel to it. The battery cap also has two tiny holes for a wrist strap to be attached although the laser does not come with one.

As I have just opened it, I don't have many pictures or any videos up but I will work on adding some beamshot pictures and some burning and beamshot videos. I will also continue to add other thoughts as I think of them and, like I just said, pictures and videos.

As of right now, I would recommend this laser. HOWEVER; my cute red laser died after one month of use, after I posted its review. I hope this one will last a lot longer than the red (which I hope was just a bad one) but only time will tell.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

This is my second review.

Additional pictures:
Beamshot: It is brighter than the picture suggests. Also, it is a little rainy so I will upload better beamshots later: I don't want to damage my camera...
15 second exposure:

30 second exposure:

EDIT: Videos.
The 00027 is an outdoor beamshot video. I tried breathing on the beam but failed...
P1000641 is burning a light yellow piece of paper. I thought it was white when I first picked it up.
P1000642 is burning a cd case.
P1000643 is the aftermath of burning the cd case.

P1000651 is a (1 of 2) match-lighting video. In this one, I light two white-tipped matches, followed by two blue-tipped matches.
P1000652 is a (2 of 2) match-lighting video. In this video, I light two red-tipped matches, followed by two black-tipped (came that way: not sharpied) matches.
All the matches lit instantly except the white-tipped matches which took a split second to light.

P1000656 is cutting/burning black electrical tape. Even wearing safety glasses, I had a hard time getting the tape where it was focused.
P1000662 is burning the foam inside the box the laser came in.

See post #19 for more videos. Some include burning a DVD. I don't have them posted yet: I will have the DVD burning video posted in a few hours. The other videos will be posted later.

Nice review. I just got mine yesterday and the battery and charger showed up in the mail today. I got a gray Ultrafire 2800mAh (protected) battery with mine with the + and - printed on it.

Good review. this was actually a laser I was considering before I decided to get the Cute 300mW 650nm from them instead. the rattling of the battery is the same issue I have with my 1w 445, the space inside mine is quite considerable, not sure why these two lasers have so much spare room in them. you got a box with yours then.. all I got was bubble wrap. :D

Thanks. Wow your lucky they sent you a nice battery. They usually just send one of their cheapest batteries. Does yours look like the ultrafire battery that I just posted pictures of?

Did you try using protected batteries? I am using some and (since they are longer) they are being held in with more force and it now doesn't rattle at all. If not, did you try wrapping a layer or 2 of electrical tape inside the battery compartment to stop the battery from rattling?

Great Review! When did yours leave China? Mine left on the 10th and I have still yet to see it. I am getting kinda worried considering that i ordered on December 20th, and still no laser :S

And here is the tracking info:
I ordered it on Dec 26th.

If it just left China on the 10th, then you know it's on its way. I may be another 7-10 days I would guess. It just depends where you are.

Yes it does. The only thing different, it says TR 18650 2800mAh 3.7V on it.

Weird. I ordered it before you and yours seems to have left China before mine did...Well whatever the reason that puts my mind at ease. I guess this means that it should be coming to tomorrow, which already seems forever far away with midterms looming over the horizon :(.
By the way I live it Virginia, near the DC.

Edit: "the DC" lol I think I'll keep that :D.

Lol, yeah yours should get to you soon. The longer the wait, the happier you are when you finally get it.
