its a lot cheaper to get a 200 mw 808nm diode just take it out of one of the 5 mw greens on ebay

You could have snagged an 808 diode and put it in an aixiz module, but you didn't do bad getting that dilda either. It's a complete unit ready to go.. nothin' wrong with that..

As far as what to burn, I've found that IR lasers behave just like red visible lasers (go figure) so the same rules apply: black stuff burns the best.

If you can get a night vision camera (or convert a digital camera to night vision) you can get some pretty interesting beam shots..

If you have any green crystals laying around from old green modules, you can use that dilda to get them to lase again if you can get everything positioned right..

Actually, there are a few things that don't burn easily with my NIR laser (500mW 808) but burn with a red laser...
Skin, some plastics that appear black, a black shirt, blue plastics...

And some things that burn quite well with this wavelength (could just be because of sheer power) :
A very light grey shirt, white painted walls, light colored wood, some white paper, etc.

And night vision does give a very interesting effect.

Yeah.. that sounds about right for the diodes. The crystals from 100mW green modules should be large enough to make centering and focusing the 808nm beam on them easier..

Why even take it out? Just take the crystals out, and you'll have a 200mW IR laser right there!

ok unit arrived about two weeks thats about right

ok its and I/R so batts go in like a pen laser correct -hmm doesnt work
check batts --fully charged--DOA  :'( :'( :'(

alright upon dissasembly of unit i found the neg spring soldered against the board facing sideways  ok i gues she didn't try it out like i asked

burning power over 200 mw  shows a 1-2  mw pink  looking dot

burns great up close -focusable

i give it a 8 out of 10 only because if i didn't know what to look for or
couldn't solder that great i would of had to send it back

ok this is not the case the actual neg spring was incorrectly positioned in unit when it was soldered to the board i took pictures and now will post them in about three hours when i get home 'its not a big deal cause i have worked as a automotive-electro mechanic /maintenance my whole life well 25 years anyway i do know a little bit of stuff  i'm not hammering on you or trying to start a flame thread its just there was no way in the world this thing could've worked unless it was repaired as I did  thats another reason i asked to pick me out a nice AKA a working one so i could review it  not your fault cause you don't make them and you probibly sell hundreds of these and are very busy but thanks it does work its just i had to repair it myself  :p

Anyways your PRICES Rock Suzie thanks and A++ to you
