Alright So this is my first review, I thought I'd give it a try considering all the help I've gotten from you guys here. I know there are actually quite a few reviews on this laser so far but hey, another perspective cant hurt right?
This will be a review of the O-like 400mW 405nm Blu-ray Laser Torch.
As seen here on O-likes website.
Beam: I'm Fairly new in the laser game, All I really have to compare this to is a 660nm 250mW.
The 660nm beam is much more visible than this 405nm Beam.
The 405nm beam does not travel very far at all in my opinion (Around 100 yards).
The violet beam is fairly visible at night or in a dark room, but not visible at all during the day or in a lit room.
Host:This is a great little host! I was very impressed with it. O-like does show it as more of a gray host on their website, it is indeed black. It's very comfortable to hold and feels sturdy in-hand. The rear clicky is very sturdy, almost too sturdy it could be a little easier on the press. I personally would prefer to have a side clicky rather than a rear just for ease of access. It is listed as waterproof, I've not tested that yet. I might try that at some point. It has 3 rubber O rings where it screws together one at the back where the battery is inserted and two towards the front where the lens and module is. One problem I do have with this host is the focusing ring is very, very hard to turn on mine. This isn't necessarily a horrible thing but it gets annoying when trying to adjust it.
Burning Capabilities: This is a perfect choice for a beginner with burning in mind. It begins to burn almost instantly and burns through black CD cases in a matter of seconds when focused correctly.
Company: O-like was easy enough to browse and order from. The customer service wasn't bad, About what I had expected in dealing with out of country service - Basically just generalized answers, not a whole lot of help to be honest but I never really had any issues either just shipping questions. I ordered the laser on December 30th and received it on February 15th. I did not pay for the extra DHL shipping. This was a bit long for me considering it didn't even show as shipped until a week later and sat in Hongkong for probably about two weeks. I get very impatient with shipping so this did frustrate me a bit, I would recommend paying the extra $15 for DHL, the only down side to that is DHL will not ship batteries. It was received in a shipping envelope in the black cardboard "case" with foam cut outs, It included a little note about the duty cycle and battery insertion.
Over all I would recommend this laser to beginners and experts alike. It is a great laser for the price, especially considering the charger was included. A very sturdy feeling build that I have had no problems with so far. Thanks O-Like!
