I guess putting "Pick me out a good one sir/mam! :)" in the comments section when I purchased the laser really helped out.

Sometimes a little extra effort goes a long way. Add in a little luck with what's in stock at the time, and you got yourself what was probably the most overspec laser they had. Glad you're enjoying it!

I'd take a close look at divergence and mode. My CNI PGL-III-M was overspec by 100mW (250mW when rated at 150mW), and I discovered that the extra power was coming from a strange high-order mode thrown in with the dot that appeared round, but upon closer examination was not.

Also, it probably does more than 400mW. My X150 is rated to peak at ~160mW by NOVA, but really does ~180mW.

impossible...................... impossiible! its an error imho

274 are generally peak 330 max....... novalsers said this by mail some months ago. it's strange that a discount unit NON PREMIUM.. has so much power....it's not possible.... test it YOURSELF.....
it uses 1watt DIODE.... how is possible to have over 400mw TRUE green? it uses an ultra mega efficient crystal???

It's no error. Trust me.

I'm not entirely sure who started this premium/non-premium business. Nova never said they were selling clearance (non-premium) items. They said they were selling items at clearance prices. You know, to clear out stock, for whatever reason. I don't know anything else about it.

so...you think a company like Nova lasers wich uses profesional meters wich should cost more then all the lasers you and i have combined gets an error reading a laser 3 times? lol:D besides you should know that every green pointer is different, one even better then the other and sometimes worse so it is absolutely verry possible to have such a over spec unit

btw awesome laser Asa gz!

The smaller-form-factor pens use 1W pumps, and get a maximum of ~180mW. 275mW out of a 1W pump would be incredible. It's got to be more than 1W.

specs do say 1w pump but the specs are also general, i would assume it has a 2W pump atleast

Hmm. If CNI is getting 400mW of green out of a 1W pump... that'd be incredible. Or epic multimode. :p

if 400mW from a 1W pump...soooo if i would take a 3W pump and tec for crystals i could get 1,2W 532:crackup:

In the box at the bottom of the print-out graph, there is a spot that says, "Cur. 1.46."
Perhaps this is the operating current?

If so, I would think that it is a >1.2W diode. ~1.3A to the diode and ~100mA to the driver sounds likely.
CNI uses 1.2W pumps in some of their medium power DPSS.

Also, this kind of power is completely feasible.
Although, as Twhite says, it is probably operating in a high-order mode.
I can confirm that my "over spec" PGL 400 operates in a circular non-TEM00 mode, but is pumping out almost 200% it's rated power at peak. The diode in the PGL is (I am assuming) the standard 2.5W pump. Current pull from battery is ~2.4A.
Edit: I just metered the PGL. 779mW peak. With a typical peak of ~750mW and assuming 2.4W pump power (based on current pull), that is <30% efficiency.
Assuming 1.2W pump power and ~400mW peak for Asa's monster Endeavor, that is still ~30% peak efficiency at the crystals. What's wrong with that?

I don't think NOVA would sell anything that is "non-premium."
Just accept the fact that 400mW DPSS greens are available in pen form. :D

:thanks: for the data!

i want one!!!!!!!!wanna sell it????? 50.00 more than you paid?? pm me lol

No thank you, I don't need the money at the moment. I'd rather have the laser, haha. :yh:
