Ok so this is another review of the O-like 350mW-400mW 532nm Laser.
There have been so many other reviews that have covered this laser in detail that iv'e decided to stick to the essentials

Opening the package reavealed what looks like a secondhand laser. Take a look at the chips & gougemarks.

It was wrapped in so much (undamaged) bubblewrap I find it inconcievable that this happend in transit, i would say this laser has "been out" before, not an encouraging start.
So onto the tests.

Equipment used :-

Custom Kenometer Pro with logger.
Tornado Thermometer w/ K type Thermocouple

Under Test

And the results? :-

AW 2900mAh protected battery

Conclusions? :-

Iv'e been left decidedly underwhelmed by this laser after seeing other people reporting thiers hitting upto 550-600mW, agreed this is optimistic but i was expecting a steady 350-400mW. Oh and this thing is about as stable as Charlie Sheen! , its output is all over the place. I think Susie will be getting this one back.

Oppinions?

The graph you have of the power measured with the IR filter seems pretty stable.
The laser I received is not absurdly over powered. In fact, it mostly hangs around in the mid 300s and only peaks in the 400s (IR filtered).

I don't think you got a bad one. It seems ok. Expecting 500mW of green from a $200 laser is a bit much.
$200 is a good price for 300mW of green if you ask me.

On the other hand, the cosmetic "defects" are not something I would be happy with.

^^ yeah I hear ya.

Its more the stability as well, this thing is all over the place, and the marks in the metal..im not happy knowing the sensitive crystals inside have been subjected to enough force to dent the metal host. All these things combined make me not happy with the laser. I'm not expecting mega power, as you pointed out its a $200 laser , but i'll be honest , I did expect a bit more.

You can´t expect the same stability like people when they buy from CNI or JETLASERS. This O_Like greenie is by far cheaper than the others I mentioned. Personally I won´t take the gamble to buy this laser. Some get a great unit for the price, others "just" get a good laser for the same amount of money. For the scratches, I would ask Susie for taking it back and shipping you a new one (you paid for a new) or she should give your a charge back (something in the $30 range comes to my mind).

Just an update.

Suzie said i could send the laser back, but I thought i'd give it one more chance.

I decided to test its "warm" performance and here are the results after warming the laser up.

Actually yes. Had a major argument and came to resolution with Susie over MSN last night. I'm not entirely happy, but we reached a compromise. This exact laser was the reason for the argument.

The laser isn't IR filtered so the power reading with IR filter isn't something they vouch for in any way. Still the IR content isn't too bad.

With O-like I've learned that in their listing you should ALWAYS look at the lowest number promised. The highest should not be taken into account.

An on spec 400mW laser is actually overspec as far as they are concerned.

I'm sure they will refund you if you ship the laser back, but you will be out on the shipping.

From all reviews, this laser is very unstable... it does suck that yours is kind of beat up/clearly used. I wouldn't send it back, but I would ask for a partial refund or credit for future purchase.

I did another With / Without IR filter test but I didnt save the result, but it looked like the IR output shot up when warm, i'll repeat the test tomorrow and save the results to upload here, it's late now and im tired.

Seem like an acceptable output.
What if u use better battery brand?

As i said in my OP , I used an AW protected 2900mAh battery, is there a better battery?

I'll run a final batch of tests tomorrow and then decide wether i'm sending it back or not.
