My experience with Jake21. Worth reading.

(please don't post here, there's a discusion in the general board about this)

One day I decided I wanted a blu-ray, and I looked on the buy/trade/sell board.

The first I saw was an offer made by Jake21 who claimed to sell fully asambled blu-ray lasers on the coleman host for 60$.

The price was awesome so I didn't doubt so much about it and just mseg him. Here are the messages (my questions are written remembering becausethey got deleted from the sent box, the answers from him are quotes):

-"You got any blu-ray left?

"yes i do u can pay here chevy2259@yahoo.com"

-"is there any guarantee? How long will it take you to ship it?"

"i can do a guarantee of one week due to my building and yes thats the laser for sale i can have it out tomorrow and ill use first class shipping add just a few $$ for shipping i think it cost alot to ship out of the usa "

-"okay, ship it and tell me how much did it cost and I'll add the difference. Make sure you use registred airmail. Btw, what batteries does it use?"

"thats is fine for the payment and it takes cr2 ill send the link in a sec"

-"Ok im paying now. If posible adjust the current to 130mA ok?"

"yea ill set the pot all the way down for payment log into ur paypal and send the funds here chevy2259@yahoo.com and email me ur address at the same email or on here ?"

-"I paid, are the batteries included?"

"it uses 2 cr2 i have to search for them lol"

-"So when are you shipping it?"

"no problem buddy im packing it up right now ready for tomorrow"

(days later)

-"Do you got the tracking number? I wanna make sure I am at home when it gets here"

-"hey buddy yes its been sent and im not home at this sec lol but ill get back with u asap on the transaction number "

(from here I got all the mesages quoted)

-"Gimme the tracking number aswell as the shipping fee I have to pay for the spanish shpiment

"I'm not crying, I'm just asking for a tracking number just as I asked from the first moment.

And this my friend is nothing near to a tracking number. custom form number is nothing at all, try to track it yourself, it's imposible.

(doesn't answer, I email him this: "Jake, and is it so dificult to say "I could not use registred airmail because it was so expensive" instaed being a whole week telling me to wait a moment?")

(he doesn't answer, so I just accept he didn't use registred mail. I think nothing happens as long as the laser gets here)

(2 weeks later, nothing arrives, I open a paypal dispute. Some hours later...)

(Now all are emails)

"thanks for the dispute i told u if u dont get it let me no ill send another if u under stand that......what would u wantto close this dispute ?? would u take 5-6 phr and lpc sleds ship with tracking tomorrow? then that way u no its been sent ? i really need the money and i no u will end up with the laser to u have to get it time to get sent out of the usa "

(and one hour later while it was 4AM in the morning here...)

"well deal or no deal ? need to no so ican pack it up"

-"I don't need sleds, I want the laser I bought.

If you think the laser is really going to arrive (wich I doubt after three weeks) then you shouldn't care so much about it. I'll close it as soon as I get the laser.

-I sent the dispute to paypal once I had read the other guy experience (his lens broken etc) and I definetly saw i couldn't trust in him anymore and also because I recived a package from USA the same day wich made me see usa packages were not taking a month like jake pretended to make me think. end of the comunication via mail/Pm- I copy the paypal dispute messages (inverse order):

I don't want a picture, I want the blu-ray I bought. Once I got it the dispute will be closed. I'm sorry but it's almost a month since I ordered it and I've not recived nothing. If you still think the laser is going to arrive, don't worry that much, the dispute will be closed. Yours, Albert

I bought him some laser components wich I never recived. After asking for registred airmail to be used he used non-registred. He told me he was going to send me another unit in case this one didn't arrive so I open the dispute today just in case the unit doesn't arrive as it alredy happened once to me that the paypal dispute period passed and I could not get my money back, something I'm not willing to happen. After all this, today I won the dispute. I got my 60$ back and it was jake who loged in the account and refunded me the cash. he didn't even answered to this last messages and I havent heard from him since he offered me the sleds in change. I think he never shipped the laser and that's why he took a week avoiding the questions until he gave me a customs form number that i highly doubt that was for my package. Also because if you look for it onusps.com it says "Service(s): International Letter". I doubt that package could beconsidered a letter, honestly. Also, I think he just wanted to make time to pass the 45 days limit of paypal so Icouldn't claim.

CONCLUSION: AVOID JAKE21, IT CAN BECOME A TRULY NIGHTMARE TO DEAL WITH HIM.

That does not mean it was your package...

If it was... then Jake needs to make a Lost Package Claim at USPS...

I've got bad experiances w/ him too :P He never sent a sled I ordered 3 months ago...
 
I can only speak for myself............ but...

I've dealt with Jake on about 5 different occations in the past 6 months...
and I've always received the stuff I purchased from him...

I know that some other members had a bad experience... but I did not...:cool:

Congratulations! I'm happy to hear that you received your money back.

I wish I had just opened a dispute back when I had my problem with Jake, rather than deal with his procrastination, lies, and excuses.

Future customers of Jake21/Jake22 take note:
If/when Jake scams you out of your money by not sending your product or sending damaged product... your best bet to recover your loss is to open a PayPal dispute. This will force him resolve the issue in a reasonable amount of time.

OR... you could save yourself a lot of aggravation and not deal with him at all. There are plenty of other members here that are much safer to deal with.

i'ts not a tracking number, it's the custom form number. This is not anyway a tracking number.

Inform yourself before speaking :/

Jake21 was last online 05-20-2009 at 06:31 PM. I looks like he is now using the name Jake22 and was online as recently as 06-03-09 at 11:05 AM. If he owes you something I'll bet that he isn't in any rush to get back to you. You might get a faster response if you open a dispute and force him to deal with you. It seems to work much better than trying to negotiate or begging.

i sent jake my laser kit to build, (coz im really noob), and i have had NO reply.im also stuffed because it doesnt have anything to do wih paypal so i cant file a dispute.
im pissed right now. i thought jake was reputable until...

You may need to PM him on his new Handle "Jake22"....

@Albert... yes it is a type of tracking number... it is not a Customs Number
no matter what Jake said...did you enter the number in the USPS tracking
system... I did... and I got the info I posted above...

To the rest of you posting here.....
Cheaper is not always better...............

I looked on it since the day he gave it to me.

It's not a tracking number. This is just a number that tracks the customs form and I've searched all around the net about it and that's what everyone said me.

"This only proofs that A package was posted and accepted this day with unknown destination and with unknown sender/reciver"

that's only to inform the sender that the custom form was OK and accepted, nothing about the package itself.
