Yeah, it's a good idea to buy a lot of them and a few of the AA ones too.

@Pman, I like the Tolkienesque names you place on your builds. Don't forget "Smaug" or Glaurung"

Whew, It's a relief to know that these modules/aaa pens have a descent power output. I'll probably get some 532nm 3V modules and aaa pens myself sometime.
Thanks for the review Pman.

Thanks for the "Smaug and Glaurung" names:) Don't know why Smaug didn't come to mind.
Also, thanks to EVERYONE working together on findings, finds and reports on modules/units and build possibilities.
Here's pics of all the units so far that I've used the Fasttech modules or pulled out the AAA pen modules from or changed the color.

Here's one I just finished stealing the single AAA module from a pen. Should have wiped it off first. It doesn't have the string on the front or all the speckels on it. This is what happens when I take a pic without my glasses on:) I'll have to take replace it later with a better pic. Have to get ready for work.

Looking forward to the 200mw module tests. Would like to know IR content, mw, stability and how mw adjusts/changes with voltage if possible (3.2-4.2V). Thanks for testing guys!

The Focusable pen tutorial is up.

2 of these are coming tomorrow
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1356700

Today is tomorrow and those 2 pens tested at 75 and 77mw with 8% IR. No output increase with increase in voltage. Decent little units.
What I really like about the Fasttech 532nm stuff is they all seem to have <10%IR.

3 more units made from the single AAA pens (well, 2 more with a better pic of the one above)

@Pman - I have received one of the two modules I had ordered. (7 day delivery!).
I first powered it up with 2aa's to check operation at low range of voltage (3v),
and the output was very dim. A guesstimate would be <5mW.
Next I used an 18350, same results, no change. :cryyy:

I haven't touched it, or modified it in any way, no pot. Mods., or switch jumpers.

So far..... very dissapointed. Maybe when the second module shows up, I will have better luck.

BTW - I have PM'ed zzcychery, and sent 2pics., using my 159mW Optotronics pen for comparison.
If anyone wants to see them, I can post them after work today.

I actually didn't end up buying any. Since I am buying an 800mW 532nm PGL-III-C in the CNI GB, I decided I should save my moneys.

Update - Good news for a change! :)

My second module was waiting in the mailbox when I got home.
I installed it in a host, and..... wonderful green light every where!
It seems brighter than my optotronics 159mW pen, but the beam is wider,
and the dot on the wall at about 30' is slightly bigger in diameter.

Hopefully, awillis's will be here anytime, and he can test it properly on an LPM.

So far, a 50% success rate with Wallbuy's.

well I've got great news! it showed up and I LPM'ed it and it did very well! not 200mW but it was better then any fasttech module I've gotten so far! I tested it with my bench supply at 3V, and the module was in a copper C6 heatsink!

ok so here are the results:

Voltage: 3V
Current Draw: 520mA
Peak Power: 139.8mW

Another supplier of 200mW modules is sending me one as a sample to review. I will post back here when I receive the unit as well as provide a link to the review.

Should be great if it is close to spec!
