First off i would like to say i also posted basically the same thing under Laser Shows in case anyone noticed.

Where to find the Mighty Mini Laser?: Spencer's Gifts
Cost?: $9.99USD

What you get: A small, battery operated, portable spirograph.

Over the past weekend i found myself at Spencer's looking for laser light shows because I needed some instant gratification. For the $10(USD) I spent, I got way more than i bargained for. In my personal opinion the Mighty Mini Laser provides more fun than Spencer's Fireball Laser Projector ( http://www.spencersonline.com/decor_lighting/fireball-laser-projector/ ). The Mini Laser has 2 potentiometers to control the speeds of the two motors, and 2 switches that can reverse the spin of the motors for even more patterns, it has a manual mode where you can control the patterns yourself or you can choose the automatic mode that runs a series of patterns over and over. it also has a demo button on the top that runs a "demo" of the different patterns.

Bottom Line: For $10 I got way more than i bargained for and i definitely recommend this purchase, if not to entertain yourself than your friends and family.

It is quite a good little spirograph... especially for the price! It is easy to put a more powerful diode in there too.

How about a blu-ray mod for that thing!

thats sexy, lol. yea i saw a few mods for this thing already but i posted this thread because so far no one has reviewed it. but yea if i had money/paypal, i would definitely get another module and put something better in. I actually found the perfect spot and angle for my green module to fit in the same bracket mount to project a red and a green image, now i just need a green module and another spirograph (i dont wanna risk destroyin my only one)

AFAIK Yobresal was the first to mod one into a 445 at ~200mW.

interesting side note- at this low power the 445 is not constant but pulsed- a different and interesting effect

It has a random pattern setting that goes thru the speeds and directions auto.

These have been around for some time.

Did you get yours on sale??

Pocket Laser Light Show

ATM a single costs ~20usd and $7 to ship to USA- buy two and the ship drops to $5. for as large any order you want.(not true afaik),-edit/update)

So in theory you can get them for 20.50$ if you buy 10.

update- Tried to see total for a spenseers order of ten of these and the promo code SHIPDEAL did not work- the shippng for ten to USA was over $14usd.
and $9 for shipping two...

Maybe a current/valid promo code like a 20% off sale would be a better way to go.

You can Opt-in for thier newsletter at the bottom and get promo codes that are current-

IF anyone can find them for $10 please post link here

I need five of these for modding- if getting the price down to $10 requires a bulk order I will offer to host a GB.
If Spensers sells for $20 they can be had for way less somewhere.

Apparently these are not stocked at Spenser stores just on-line.

I was thinking --scrap the plastic case- rebuild inside a bigger enclosure and add more modules via knife edge.( or dichros- very cheap ones can be had from 445 harvestors. and cut down to a smaller size.)

adding a plug for wallwart would be nice mod as well.

also directing to another (3rd)motor with a larger mirror make for many more pattern variations than just the simple two mirror spiros.

AixiZ offers VERY small modules in 532/405 and 650- you can make your own 445 and a cheap driver. That woulsd also require another switch to allow on/off and reverse direction of the 445. adding a small fan to the build would perhaps be a good idea. Thses as-is are NOT very loud at all and if you are like me the music will be extremely loud so any sounds that these DO make will never be heard.

UPDATE- did some searching and found.........for $10.47 and 99cents to ship...

'x-treme geek'

promo code - mini spiro 10% off
use code XG2012
or try holi5
turns out to NOT be 10% more like 5%
and NOW
comapnies have started charging tax- makes you wonder how we are sure they do not just pocket this new 'tax'
still afaik the cheapest source of these mini spiro lasers-

at least you can call them-- maybe you could work out a better deal with a live person--lol)
