LaserBee I-X 2.1W LPM review

I ordered this from Laserbee through their ebay posting. It is awesome. Link to it HERE.

All I can say is that this was worth every penny (even though it is very well priced for the quality of the LPM.

The LPM comes pre-calibrated, and ready to use. You just attach a 9V battery to the connector and the LPM turns on with a splash screen. You are then at the readings screen. The top line shows current mW and the bottom line shows Max mW. The display is an 8X2 backlit lcd display that isnt too bright in the dark but well lit even with sunlight hitting it. Everything is well made, well packaged and the data logging is awesome. Took me 10 minutes to get it working. The software works great and the data logging saves to excel files which can be set to graphs.

The LPM is much better than I had hoped. It reads instantly and stablizes within 10-15 secs. It works in 1mW increments and allows you to read any wavelength. You can reset the max mW reading by a press of button. Its very easy to use.

Now here you guys go, pictures!!!!!

Overall I recommend this product to anyone here wanting an affordable yet high quality LPM. This one also is somewhat portable and allows you to take readings without a computer (my other choice was the USB only version, but after hearing Jerry telling me that this one reads faster than the USB version I choose this one).

Hope this helps someone decide on an LPM and I hope you like the review!

Very nice. I am sure you will enjoy it for a long time. I have a 3.2W Laserbee II and it has been a great LPM. It is the only LPM I have ever owned so I don't have much to judge it against but I have beat the hell out of it and it always matches up when others have tested units from me. I also really like how responsive they are and of course Jerry is a great guy to deal with.;)

yes the responsiveness is the one thing that made the deal with me. I hear that the USB only version isnt quite as responsive. This sucker is instant.

I didnt see them offering a 3.2W version. There was a 5W version though. Very nice either way! I hope mine survives the occasional beating i will probably give it :eg:

The USB only ver is slower because of the sensor.. The price of the USB units
was made possible by cutting overhead and using a lower cost TEC.

The alpha I had also had a larger TEC and read very slow. For a 600mW
445nm laser, it took approx 1min to get a stable reading. With a higher power
even longer.

For small builds like my pens, you would never know its peak nor average
with a duty cycle of 20sec or so.

The speed of the LB-I, you can track your progress in aligning DPSS..
Worth every penny IMO.

Got my first in 2008 had it running on my desk 24hrs a day almost every day
since..

All I can say is a loyal customer is loyal for good reason.

Enjoy the meter

I also have a LaserBee I-X and I strongly recommend this product :topic:
I love mine, it reads almost instantly and the backlit lcd is awesome. Portable too. Hey Arayan, hows the data logging on yours? I cant seem to get mine to save into graph form. It just saves the output as an Excel file.

If you click on [View] then [Chart] from the main screen
of your LaserBee I-X PC Data Logging Software screen...
you will be to import any Data Logging data that you saved
and have a graph to print out or save as a Graph Image File..

Don't hesitate to ask us a question by PM if you need help.
Our E-Mail address is even on the Help/About page of the
Data Logging Software...

IDK... when I need info on my new car... I call the Dealer...
but I guess that's just me....;)

Unfortunately, I only use Macs and I can not connect my LaserBee, so for now I use it only "directly" :(

I might be able to help you out with something (free, of course :p) in Java. Drop me a PM if you're interested. :)

If it's not free then maybe a PM would be more appropriate
for sales on this Review Thread...

If it's a Free offer for anyone with a MAC then.... never mind
and thanks...

I'm always happy to provide free support to an abandoned segment of consumers. :)
